15 mile round trip hike. gradual elevation gain makes for a fairly easy high with distance more of a concern than the elevation change. We made the round trip in 7-half hours at a stiff pace.

A challenging but rewarding hike. There's nothing per say hard about it outside of the fact that it's a long hard accent up. That said it's a great trail to go up and of course the view from the top is incredible when you look out and see all the surrounding Adirondack mountain ranges. Good day!
If your looking at taking a good hike that isn't to difficult, this is the mountain to start with. Its not overly difficult to navigate/hike up. We parked and then hiked to the dam, camped for two nights. First night we arrived at camp around 4:30 and just setup and relaxed. Nice spot, camp sites are separated by trees, so you don't need to worry about your neighbour. The next morning we hiked up the main trail which was rocky but not to steep. It took us about 4 hours to hike to the top of the mountain, 3 to get down. That was at a easy steady pace and various breaks. By the way we did the hike in September and the weather was great. Little chilly at night but not bad.

Make sure you wear good shoes/boots, its rocky and muddy. Bring enough water and a snack for the top of the mountain. We had good weather the entire hike, gets cooler at the top so prepare for the weather change. I saw a number of people with jeans, running shoes, no jackets!! Don't be like them coming down the mountain wet, cold and just wanting to get home. Wear the right clothes and you will have a much better experience.

Top of the mountain is great, the views were perfect. Although the ranger told us you only get about 5 days a year that the views are that good. Just our day!

Try this mountain, you don't have to be in super great shape or be decked out with gear to make it.

Have fun!!
