I stay in this hotel twice a year when I visit family nearby. We've always enjoyed our stays and previously stayed in the other Johnstown hotels. Once Microtel opened we've no longer stayed in any of the other hotels. Unfortunately I may have to rethink that, especially if we come back during the FMCC school year.
I had read that the Microtel was being used as supplemental student housing for FMCC but I had forgotten. When we arrived at the hotel we noticed groups of international students hanging around outside and in the lobby/breakfast room. They were well behaved although I didn't appreciate having people hang around why we were checking in.
The real problem started when we got to our room and heard the people running around upstairs. We were on the 2nd floor. We unfortunately didn't complain, as we were only in the room for a short time. Luckily on the nights we stayed the running around didn't go on past about 1am so we never did call the front desk or comment. Partly because we didn't have the energy or time to change rooms.
In hindsight I should have discussed it with the front desk and possibly tried to get our room changed.More
