“DISGRACE”
Reviewed January 22, 2014

Came on business and hotel was booked for me. What a disgrace, the building is old and in need of paint and a revamp. The biggest disappointment is the kitchen, the food is not fit for human consumption, looks like food in the buffet has been re-heated several times, I ordered a toasted sandwich (chicken and mayo) was dry and lacking any chicken. The good part is Christine the front manager, very helpful.
The other reviews must be outdated

Room Tip: The rooms are tidy but very old, I dont recommend more than 1 night

Good ambience, sometimes the president used to stay, also high profile ministers, has animals including deer, zebras etc.. offers best continental cusines and traditional zambian dishes. Heart of the city but slightly inside.

Room Tip: All good standard rooms, also got Presidential suite.

Staying overnight in ndola seems to always require a compromise. Mukuba is set in nice nice gardens. The rooms are basic and old and the bed was a bit too uncomfortable for me. Breakfasts were limited in selection and depressingly monotonous as it did not change at all. Dinners were better with some variety and some choices were really tasty. Wifi exists in name only as I was never able to get a connection. Finally no review on Mukuba lodge is complete without mentioning the peacocks. Their raucous caws in the morning will ensure that you are an early riser.....no need for alarm clock.

Stayed 5 nights and I enjoyed the days in Mukuba
It was the best choice that I made in Ndola

Food was very good and people in there were very kind
At dinner a band plays a music and it makes travelers enjoy the night

Room was clean enough and I could not find mosquitoes at all
However one day I got towel was stained in yellow and the bed is somewhat uncomfortable

In Ndola it is hard to see animals but in Mukuba hotel you can see Impala and peacoks around rooms
It is memorable experience to me and I really liked looking them every morning in my room

Hope to visit again there with my hobby in the future

I first stayed at this hotel for 6 months, Monday to Friday in 1993 when it was only five years old. Apart from the addition of a swimming pool and gym not much else has changed. I had a room with a double bed for 3 nights at the end of November. The head board of the bed was the original from 1993 and the radio and alarm clock in the middle of the head board were still out of action 20 years later! The bed was new, the only chair was an original from 1993.The brick built dressing table was the same albeit with a new top. The TV had changed to a wide screen model but still a very limited range of channels. The floor is now ceramic tiles instead of carpets. Basically clean, it seemed the bathroom facilities had been partly refurbished, new WC (very small, appears to be made in China) and wash basin but original bath and shower fittings. Hotel breakfast OK. Evening dinner buffet OK but it seems if you go to dinner after about 7.45pm there is not a lot of choice left on the buffet. On the 2nd night I ordered from the a la carte menu as did the person sitting on the next table. Very disappointing, the food was not hot and the meat was tough. The person on the next table who had pork chops, I had steak, was equally disappointed. I eat in town the next night.

Peacocks are mentioned, and these seem to have multiplied considerably since the 1990s. Their noise at 4am is irritating.

Reasonable value for money and probably one of the very few reasonable hotels in the Zambian Copperbelt. I stayed there simply because all the lodges I contacted many of which are more expensive were fully booked.

Staff very friendly but this hotel is now looking dated and tired. It badly needs refurbishment

The hotel is nice even its a little bit old. Clean rooms and lunch buffet is great. Dinner is also good. There are animals running around the hotel premesis witch is nice. Pool is bigger than normal hotels have! Staff is nice and very polite. AC works in rooms. Best thing about this is the location! No noise polution from cars or industrial. Price and value adds up good.

On my third trip to Zambia, I stayed at the Mukuba, and I was truly impressed by it! Although the Mukuba has nothing too fancy, the grounds are great for exploring (especially since there are impalas and peacocks roaming the grounds), it has a pool, the food provided is tasty, and the rooms are nice. The staff is also exceptionally friendly and is more than happy to accommodate their guests' needs.
