Rooms cost around USD 60 per night which makes the Skyview a more affordable option to the more established hotels in Siavonga. For that you get a clean room and bathroom with AC, hot water and a large (empty) fridge and if that is all you need then I would recommend the Skyview.
The staff are very friendly and the chef is very proud of his kitchen - he made a real effort to prepare a vegetarian option for a colleague which in fact turned out to be really nice. The breakfast was far more than I expected with a buffet that included bacon, sausages, beans and eggs as per your choice plus cereals, bread etc. The bar is very well stocked but if you need something sugar free then your only option is still water! Also probably better to bring your own wine as the only options on sale are the South African headache in a bottle type reds.
I stayed at the Skyview as a participant in a workshop and if you are the organiser of such event then you really should steer clear of Skyview. The room is dark and the Air Cons simply cannot cope with the heat and remember I was there in the relative 'cool' of February. The chairs in the meeting room are extremely uncomfortable. On the other hand the chef did not disappoint and prepared some extremely tasty snacks for the breaks. The buffet lunch was also well prepared.
The Skyview Lodge as its name suggest does not in fact have a view of the lake, being located on the edge of a small inlet which does not make it a great place to enjoy sundowners.
The pool was either being built or renovated and indeed the whole site is under renovation with many rooms being upgraded.
