I am a huge fan of Lucille Ball so I was very excited to visit. I enjoyed viewing the short film clip that was shown before actually touring the center. Was a variety of Lucille Ball's clothing, her car and alot of information about her life and the show "I Love Lucy". Seeing the replicas of the show was pretty neat. I was disappointed in the gift shop. As with any gift shop the souveniers were way overpriced and there was not alot of things to choose from. Also the center has all on street parking which is a huge downfall. If you are an "I Love Lucy" fan I suggest visiting the center.

Come see the stories of how and when Lucille Ball grew up. See the museum where the TV sets can be seen in color, unlike in the black and white series. Televisions show episodes as one looks into the Ricardo kitchen and living room. See garments she wore throughout her career.
Nice and wholesome three building museum.

If you love Lucy (or Desi for that matter) then this is a must see attraction. If you are going through or staying in Jamestown then it might be worth seeing. Lucy grew up in Jamestown and they are very proud of that fact (she can be found on everything from napkins to postcards). The Lucy-Desi Center could be seen as a bit of an expensive attraction for anyone who is traveling with a larger group or is not an excitable fan of Lucy, Desi or "I Love Lucy". Knowing that Lucy is as "American as apple pie" and one of the most (if not the most) beloved TV icons ever, not stopping seemed like a poor decision for me. I did not understand why they were not able to conjoin the price of the exhibits… paying separate prices seemed strange and makes it seem more expensive. I think they do this because part of the center is a museum and the other is in a side building and is a studio exhibit?

Anyway, if you are going to bite the bullet and see one part, you might as well see both of them! The museum was modest and well put together but would bore many people. My favorite part was the “studio” part of the center. They have full size camera and studio equipment from Hollywood (circa 1950’s) and tons of original news clips, TV Guides, magazines and costumes. However, the best part of the whole experience (at least for the theatrical me) was the re-created sets of Lucy and Ricky’s New York City Apartment, Hollywood Hotel Suite, Bedroom and the opportunity to “act out” the infamous Vitameatavegamin commercial.

* Side Note: I never knew that the Ricardo’s had a blue couch, Desi Arnaz came from a rather wealthy Cuban family (at least for that time) or that Vitameatavegamin was a hearty and bold 11% ABV?

So, if you are going through Jamestown, NY… consider going to see this attraction! If you love Lucy then you might even want to plan it on your trip route or make an effort to drive off the path a bit and see it.

A must see for Lucille Ball and "I Love Lucy" fans... worth $14 admission price to tour both the museum and Lucille Ball/Desi Arnaz Center. History of filming of "I Love Lucy" show, re-creations of shows sets, clothing and other memorabilia from her life as well as an opportunity to see yourself in the Vitameatavegamin commercial! There is to be a Lucille Ball Comedy Fest there Aug 1-5 http://lucycomedyfest.com/
