I travel to and through NYC regularly and have been visiting the Hilton (and its former brand) for years. Dana and Marjorie are the best, always helpful, pleasant, Dana always remember me, and my drink of choice. Its nice and comfortable to pass some time with them.

We stayed here for one night, having flown into New York en route to Toronto for a family wedding. We stayed in two executive room which we felt were good for an airport hotel, much larger than I expected and reasonably luxurious. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The airport shuttle is really handy, although be sure to be downstairs early as we had to wait quite a while for it to arrive in the morning. (We were in plenty of time for our flight to Toronto so it didn't matter.) The Executive Lounge was nice, although they do charge for anything but soft drinks. The restaurant downstairs was good for a quick bite to eat in the evening and the breakfast buffet in the morning was very good too. If you have to stay over at JFK, this is the hotel to choose.

Room Tip: Book an executive room if you can.

Stayed at the Hilton at JFK before an early flight to London. The rooms were fine (but my mum who was travelling with me had noisy neighbours on the 12th floor). The executive lounge was very poorly stocked - it would have been nice to be able to pick something up for breakfast before our flight as we had to leave before breakfast - but there was nothing but water & juice. The restaurant ambience was really poor (as is so often the case with large hotels) - without any atmosphere and the food was OK at best (I had a strange concoction of chicken breast with what I thought was going to be a lime and salsa dressing but it was more like soup - and our tiramissu was dry & clearly mass-produced). I'd try not to stay here again as I wanted a nice meal on our last night in the USA - and that didn't happen

Unfortunately, we didn't get to stay at the Hilton this weekend, seems it was a big weekend near JFK, but we did spend three nights eating and drinking at your bar. Everyone in the restaurant was very nice, but Brian, the bartender was amazing. The bar got crowded a few times, and he was right there. No one had to wait very long. We'd stay there, just for Brian.

Dear Serbiansgirl,

We are sorry we were unable to accomodate this past weekend as we were sold out - but very happy that you chose to dine with us and enjoy the service from our amazing bartender Brian! He is truly awesome and your comments will be shared with the team.

When your travels bring you back to the area, make sure you stay with us!

Sincerely,

I have mixed emotions on this review, so here is a layout on some areas:

Customer Service:
This was extremely poor. The guest relations gave the impression that I did them a favor by staying in the hotel. I called once to complain about breakfast not being brought to the room unless you call and remind them and what was the solution to it? The lady gave me attitude over the phone and acted like i was dumb enough not to even complete the card. After she found out how ignorant her remarks were, she never even apologized, yet from that day onwards I did not get a breakfast card again to complete. So basically went somewhere else in the mornings.

They do not help you to call a taxi or anything. You constantly get the " Sorry we do not do that" excuse.

Conference Facility:
This was a business trip, so we used this facility. Again... A building that you occupy. No service, poor conditions of the equipment and the room was only cleaned once in 3 days.

Shop in the hotel:
Now this lady was friendly. She helped where she can and gave you service as if you were her only client for the past month. Shop was clean and everything neatly packed. I contribute that to her personality, as everything else in the hotel is pretty sub standard.

Room:
The rooms are old. The room i was in, was not too bad (518). Spacious and the AC worked pretty good. The internet is fast and there is a coffee machine in the room. Major plus!!

So the question remains... will I ever return or recommend this to others? Definitely not. I am all about service. That is what makes the difference. The could actually only have 1 or two people working at the hotel. The rest are attending anyway. They are just short of useless.

I had problems with my flight and got stuck in New York for an additional 2 days. I went to another hotel which was $180 extra per night, just to ensure that i do not return to this hotel.

We stayed at this hotel and had a wonderful experience. From booking the reservation to the staff everything about it was excellent! Room were clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was delicious. The common areas were pristine. Would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling into JFK airport and the surrounding areas!! Kudos to you and your staff!

Unfortunately we stayed at the Doubletree Hotel two blocks away. We visited the Hilton because the restaurant at the Doubletree was not open. The difference in these two properties is immediately recognizable. While service at the Doubletree was non-existent, we were warmly greeted by the Hilton staff. The bistro/bar area is very nice and our server, Siam, was excellent (the quesadilla and chicken tacos were delicious). The gift shop is lovely and there is a Starbuck’s in the lobby. If I stay in this area again it will definitely be at the Hilton or Hampton (next door to the Hilton).
