“Pleasant Experience worth the Train ride away”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2013

The staff were super friendly and made the hour long train trip well worth it. We had to stay at an extremely over priced hotel in Times Square the first night of our trip and transferred to Hilton Garden/JFK on the 2nd night and could not have been more happy about the switch. It was an hour train ride away from all our day activities but the staff, price, and accommodations made it worth it, 10 times over again. The night shift front desk guy was super cool and their complimentary shuttle service drivers were also the absolute best! Complimentary wifi was nice to have for all the time we had to spend looking up train schedules.

Wonderful Staff Every where I went throughout this entire hotel. Sade, Arnold, Vinny, Tirzah, Larissa, Willie, and Ivana were the best part of my stay always smiling faces willing to help whether they could solve the issue or not. I wish other hotels possess the quality these people have when it comes to guest service. Will definitely stay with this property again.

Stayed here overnight in prep for an early flight to the UK the following morning. When I checked in, I was told that there was a party going on out in the car park at the back, complete with disco and free food - and that hotel guests were welcome to join.

I wasn't really up for that, so asked instead about restaurant or room service options - and was told that there was no other food options, as the chefs and staff were all catering to the party outside.

So with no rental car or transport available to me, I had no option but to go to the outdoor party, eat the nibbles and cakes on offer and then retreat to my room for the night. Not ideal for a solo female traveller at all really.

Room itself was fine, and shuttle to the airport was on time and the driver was very friendly and helpful.

Restaurant is not that great, average at best. Rooms very small for the price. Seems some rooms have breakfast included. I had 3 rooms and no breakfast included for any of them. Parking cramped and difficult to access. Was told on 2nd night that had to park in a lot about 2 blocks away as work being done in their lot. (At night?) Next morning, there were cars in the Hotel Lot. And you would have thought that since we had to schlep or stuff for 2 blocks to our vehicle, they could have provided a shuttle. Again, not what I would have expected out of a "Hilton"!!! Not worth the price paid for sure! OH and not everyone likes a smooshy "pillowtop" mattress either. Still suffering the ill affects of that on my back.

Don't arrive with great expectations. An airport motel is an airport motel and this one is fairly typical. It is however handy to JFK and to the Air Train, so it achieves it's purpose. There's a reasonably reliable shuttle every half-hour to the airport, but not from the airport. You have to take the Air Train to Federal Circle and call the hotel for a pick-up, which is a bit of a hassle, especially if you have luggage. Also, don't expect any help from the shuttle drivers who are the amongst the most surly I've ever encountered and just stand and watch guests, including the elderly, load and unload their own luggage. Unless you want to take the LIRR or MTA into Manhattan, you're also fairly isolated in terms of eating options. The hotel does have a restaurant, but with limited hours and a total schmozzle in terms of service. Food sits on the counter waiting for staff to bring it to the table, but they're too busy talking or stuffing food down their own throats to care. It's obvious the restaurant side of the business lacks oversight and good management. Whilst the reception staff are friendly and efficient, when our bill was placed under the door, it had an item on it for parking, which was odd given that we didn't own a car. When queried it was almost treated as a joke and no apology or explanation was given, even though it was quickly removed from our account.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on one of the high (5th or 6th) floors as the lower floors are busy and noisy.

Dingy, expensive, poor staff, lousy food, bad internet. I would not ever stay here again. Had good experience at other Hilton Garden Inns, but not this one. This Hilton Garden Inn was close to JFK, and I was more than ready for a rest after long flights from Europe. I found this hotel to have everything I needed, especially a very good bed and peace and quiet so I could rest. I was able to get a van at 3:30 to take me back to the airport, which is what I needed. As a widow traveling alone, I had no fear in the van or in the hotel
