“Basic Airport Hotel”

This is a basic airport hotel, convenient to be near the airport. However not very convenient to get to town if you still have 1/2 a day left to spend in New York. As this is an airport hotel, expect every hour to have guest arriving or checking out so it can be rather noisy throughout the night.

Email respond was quick and provided the information required before our stay.

The rooms are rather cramp, but clean enough for the 1 night stay. They have hourly pick up to send you to airport for your flight, of course remember to tip the driver sufficiently otherwise you will get a nasty look even if it was an accidental mistake.

Room Tip: Ask for non-smoking rooms if you are non-smoker.

I booked this hotel because of a major snowstorm. My daughter was flying into JFK and I didn't want to drive home to NJ that evening during the storm. I was surprised to find the registration staff behind glass, not a good sign. My room had a strange smell, stained furniture and marks on the sheets. I found a dead bug in the bed and immediately checked out stating that I expected a refund. I ended up driving home in the snowstorm...better alternative than sleeping in the disgusting room. Now the hotel absolutely refuses to give me a refund. What kind of customer service is that? On a side note when I checked in I asked for a trash can to throw out some trash and they didn't have one in the lobby and the staff just shrugged. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL!

The 1800 rep booked us at this putrid dump... The lobby was a clear sign to keep moving and find a safe clean place to stay: there is a love seat pushed in the corner as you enter that apparently some one urinated on, vomitted on and perhaps released other bodily waste on- its difficult to tell if its blood or fecal matter. The front desk is behind tempered glass and the clerks are not friendly nor helpful. The area is very small all the walls and floors are dirty. You step down to another area only to discover carpet that looked like someone took a tractor with muddy tires and rode up and down the hall until the original color was no longer visible. The bathroom door had fecal matter or blood smeared on it. The bath tub had dirt and grime in the bottom. The toilet seat was not clean. The furniture look like something you might have pulled out of a dump: it was chipped and scratched with a layer of dust on it. There was trash underneath it...no one found it necessary to sweep. The bedspread and sheets looked tattered and torn and dingy. After calling the front desk to ask to move to a better floor ,she indicated there was nothing better , strongly suggested I go to another hotel, and asked could she call us a cab. She had the nerve to say she was certain we'd enjoy our stay elsewhere. Otherwise there was nothing she could do. Corporate, yes it was so terrible I called corporate, tells me they care about the quality of establishments bearing the Howard Johnson name... But they could not do anything before the 19th. That doesn't get me out of this rat infested Hell tonight . You have been warned ..... Stay away it is horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you need a clean place to stay to catch an early flight, you can consider this place. Just remember to ask for non-smoking rooms on non-smoking levels. The non-smoking rooms on the smoking levels not that "non-smoking". The room we stayed was clean contrary to all the nasty reviews we read, and had all the basic amenities (iron, microwave, toiletries etc). Bed was firm and comfortable. Front desk staff was helpful but the driver for the shuttle bus service to and from JFK was no where near helpful. The shuttle bus had an unpleasant mouldy smell and should be cleaned.

Breakfast was normal continental breakfast but if you prefer Burger King, there's one just beside it. We called for dinner delivery as we weren't comfortable with going out of the building after dark. The room had some information about meal delivery. The front desk counter had a bullet proof glass between the guests and the staff.

Response via email was prompt and the Manager was most willing to help meet our requests.

Room Tip: Avoid the non-smoking rooms on the smoking level (at all cost!)
