I agree with the other reviewers: it's an okay place to stay. Shuttle drivers are very nice and helpful, but the front desk staff are not as inviting. The breakfast is disappointing, and it would be nice if ice water (not just coffee and hot water) were available all day. Room was basic; housekeeping was fine; Wi-Fi worked well. One has to go to the Hilton next door for a bar or for dinner, or to buy bus or metro cards. One has to go the Marriott Courtyard on the other side to get Starbucks coffee. And in walking to each place, one has to say to one's self, "Hmm...should I have stayed here instead?"

All in all, however, it did the job of providing a place to sleep in while traveling through JFK.

This is a basic Hampton Inn (we've been in better) in a so-so location with just adequate shuttle service from JFK. The shuttle pick-up from the designated location in JFK (which is pain to figure out how to get to, but that's JFK's fault) took longer than it should. We just missed the shuttle departing from that JFK pick-up spot and it was over 45 minutes until the next one arrived, including about 20 minutes after we were assured it would be there "in a few minutes". As for the facility, people walking in the hall, along with the beep of the elevator arriving, can be heard when you are in bed in your room. (Fortunately our floor was almost empty so this wasn't a big problem, but it could have been.) The positives are a friendly staff, nice large rooms, everything being spotlessly clean and having a decent breakfast with enough tables for everyone. The morning shuttle to JFK was good.

The hotel and room looks great, but we had really bad service from staff overall while staying there. In order to sleep well, because the mattress was so firm, we absolutely needed extra pillows, which were unavailable the first night and then took a lot of work to get the second night. The tv never worked and was never fixed, despite several calls and discussions with front desk clerks.

Stopped over here after an overnight flight from Athens, Greece. Shuttle was waiting at Federal Circle stop off the AirTrain when I arrived. They run every 20 minutes. The front desk staff person was very nice. The room is okay. Nothing special, but the bed was very comfortable. The hotel lobby has a dark feel to it due to dim lighting. There is no restaurant on-site but it is possible to walk through an inside corridor to the Hilton next door where there is a bar and restaurant. Free breakfast in the morning was standard for Hampton Inns. I noticed both last night and this morning that there were people sleeping all over the lobby. I don't really know what that was all about but it was creepy. Overall, I feel that the $180 overnight price (incl tax) is too much for this property, but I guess that is par for the course when you are this close to JFK.

Overall, the hotel was a decent place to stay. The staff was very helpful, but there is limited cab service and the cabs that were to be had were exhorbitant. The breakfast buffet was usually out of entrees and the omelettes were burned. Our first night there, the tissue dispenser was empty, but upon request was filled the next day.

Like most other people, we spent just one night at this hotel, to have a break before continuing on to LAX. We were given instructions how to access the free shuttle from KFK to the hotel, however as non-locals we were a bit confused so we caught a cab. The taxi driver did not know where to go, but we got there after he consulted his GPS. We took take advantage of the shuttle from the hotel back to JFK and found the service most convenient.

Breakfast is OK. You help yourself to hot or cold items, using plastic cutlery and plates. We'd experienced the same approach at another US airport hotel. It seems basic airport hotels do not trust their guests with proper plates and cutlery!

We ate dinner next door at the Hilton and enjoyed the meal. The several hours we spent at the Hampton allowed us to continue our travels, refreshed and prepared for two more long flights on the way home.

Room Tip: Our room faced the airport and was still quiet.

The hotel is only designed to meet the needs of JFK passengers. Airport shuttles consistently block the entrance to the hotel. There is a shortage of parking if you drive to the hotel and even a greater shortage of guest support. Room was substandard and became flooded by an overflowing toilet. We left as quickly as possible.
