service depends much on who's working however I've stayed here 3 different times and it's never even been average. Staff have a very indifferent attitude. (very much like the area).

rooms need updating. Bolt on door was broken, toilet runs all the time, thermostat unresponsive. Parking a nightmare on week days esp. Mondays
first stay was during a remodel, the front entrance was closed and it was unclear what customers should do, everything was a mess and breakfast was hidden in a remote room somewhere but no signs telling you where...entrance wasn't clearly labeled. second stay was my parking nightmare. Again staff indifferent i got upgraded due to being a diamond, i fear those who don't get upgrades the rooms are slightly below avg.
beds are comfy, rooms pretty clean, if your just looking to lay your head down.
third stay near a nightmare. no fridge avail, no parking, another deadbolt broken, i actually was hung up on by front desk after asking for a fridge... and when i went down to ask for a spoon one of the busy representatives had to slap the other one on the arm to pay any attention to me standing at the desk. then i was left to my own to get into the room and dig through 10 different cupboards to find said spoon. most of the floors have no working ice machines so it's hide and seek ... (floor 3 & 8 work out of 12? really?). only good thing i have to say is that after getting my spoon the night manager happen to notice my apparent aggravation and called my room after a few moments. i made the suggestion to put a sign on the broken ice machines telling customers what ice machines DO work so they don't have to try the other 10 floors that don't. he was sincerely apologetic and 15 min later i had a service man come to my room to fix the toilet and broken bolt. (both of which i called about on day 1). it would appear that it's hard to find good help in this area

Room Tip: there is no picking a good room.. stay at the other 3 hotels nearby

We have a great team of hospitality professionals that delivers great consistent service every day. As you can witness from many of our past guests and reviewers here on TripAdvisor. I am very sorry to see that you failed to do so while your stay at the Hampton Inn JFK.
I am sorry to hear about a series of unpleasant events as you describe them unfolding during your stays. I would to mention that our breakfast room is visible and wide open right next to the front desk and the lobby. I'm confused by all of the glowing reviews. There was absolutely nothing special about this hotel. It is completely average. The lobby was tired looking, & the room was only slightly better. The AC in the room was quite noisy, and the toilet sounded like a small jet engine when flushed. (Room 607)

The service at this hotel was exemplary! Trechianna was very attentive during the breakfast service. The hotel was busy but the food was replenished and the area was clean. The hot food was different every day. Renatta at the front desk was amazing! I called to tell the party that I was meeting that I was going to be late and she took my number and called me back in the car when they called to say they were running late! The view from the higher floors was an added bonus. The beds were very high so this might be a challenge for seniors. The parking was available even when we arrived after 11 at night and is off the street. There is 24 hr security in the lobby which was very comforting since I was travelling alone with kids. The front desk gives out cold water when you check in. I booked using hotwire and got a great rate. The hotel is connected to the Hilton which has a full restaurant. The hotel is in a nice residential area so there is not much food in the immediate area and the Hilton food is just OK. So definitely eat out! A few restaurants deliver but the delivery time can be really long. It is really close to the airport and the shuttle was always running.

Room Tip: Higher floors give you a nice view!

Hotel is OK for one night if you need to stay close to JFK

beds were a little too soft, bathroom small, rooms a little outdated
Service was so-so as we had problems getting the roller-bed we booked.
Shuttle service to airport was good
Bottom line: Typical airport Hotel and probably as good as others but pricy (186$ for room with two double beds)

Me and my family have been in this hotel, and it was fantastic!
First, the hotel has been perfectly placed between the airport (so that after 10hrs of plane, we could easily drive there) and NYC (so to arrive there easily, but we were far enough to sleep well).
Second, the rooms were very clean and I had no problems (I'm allergic to dust).
Third, the staff was kind, and was always ready to help us, for example, by calling a taxi that arrived in 5 mins, and looking for all the possibilities of restaurants.
Fourth, the food was very good.
We had a great time, so, go there if you can!!!!

First about the hotel - its clean and bright. We were two families staying for two nights. Rooms are good with great beds. Breakfast is just OK.

then the location - no restaurants, station or stores nearby. Shuttle service is only provided to the airport. few choices are there for takeaway..but basically you have no option to eat out for dinner..except Hilton next door (expensive)

and sadly the service - for a service industry there are various touch points which enhances or destroys the experience. We have not seen a bigger attitude from the drivers - it looked like we were being picked and dropped as a supreme gesture. our bags were not handled properly and i've to mention that i realized its because who we were (indians)...they acted differently with other guests...most of the reception staff were not warm either and it looked like we were staying there for free!!...i mentioned most 'coz couple of them helped us in finding a refrigerator to store our excess dinner as well as providing directions to get around the city.

bad service is the single reason that we will never stay again in this place!!

Thank you for choosing our hotel and for taking the time to review us here on TripAdvisor. We value your feedback and we are sorry to see that the service you experienced it is not what we strive for at the Hampton Inn JFK. We thank you for taking notice of the cleanliness of the hotel and our complimentary breakfast.
Our proximity to the JFK airport makes us an ideal location when traveling in and out of JFK, as well as if you visiting the big Apple. There are not many restaurants within a walking distance from the local hotels, however there are a few within a short cab ride. Our guests are welcomed to utilize the restaurant adjacent to the Hilton, they serve lunch and dinner daily. And it is fantastic.
I am truthfully very sorry to hear about the experience with our shuttle driver. We are researching this. However, please be mindful that by no means our hotel personnel acts in a different way with different guests based on their cultural background. Please accept my apologies if you felt this way but allow me to confess that we take great pride in serving all guests of all nationalities and all backgrounds. Being at such a key location at JFK International Airport our doors are wide open and welcome many guest from all around the world daily. Many of these guests have expressed by email or even here on TripAdvisor that the service they have received from our hospitality professionals is one of the best they have experienced. That is something that we we are very proud of and again we do apologize that you feel this way.

Everything clean, fresh and comfortable. Worth the money for a one-night stay after picking up daughter from overseas flight at JFK. She was happy to have a good shower, a nice bed and a good night's sleep after being up and in the air for 23 hours. Breakfast next morning was a bonus.
