Came across this place online while looking for a cheap place to stay for 3 nights. We arrived at midnight, tired and stressed and all we noticed was a stuffy musty room and very loud aircon. After a night's sleep and breakfast we started to notice what a hidden gem it actually was. For the price of a private room in a hostel (if not cheaper - we did a special pre-pay offer through their website direct) 4 of us slept in a room with 2 queen beds, flat screen tv, fridge and coffee maker.

Good points:

Cheap price, comfy room, flat screen tv, fridge, coffee maker, breakfast included, goodies in bathroom, helpful staff, v close to subway, internet access

Bad points:

Breakfast is very basic, room was musty on arrival (although they did leave window open to air it for the rest of our stay), subway slow from Manhattan (especially if it goes 'local'), aircon was noisy, neither information desk at airport or 2 NY taxi drivers(don't even get me started on that subject!) knew where it was (for future reference it's NOT the airport Ramada).

The staff were helpful especially when it came to calling taxis (nice local minicabs that were happy to take 4 girls and luggage - shame on you NY taxis!) OK so there are no posh restaurants in the area (we din't need one) but we were thrilled that there was fast food available in the early hrs on the 1 min walk from the station to the hotel!

Nice touches:

Free internet (and not being charged for printing boarding passes), unlimited access to hot drinks from the machine in the breakfast room throughout the day, enough towels (4 sharing a room and we never had to ask for extra - a lilttle thing but very few get it right)

Yes queens is a rough area but the hotel is so close to the station and we always travelled in a group so it was not an issue. I can only see it as being a problem if you're not used to cities. As long as you don't walk around after dark looking like a tourist things are fine.

In conclusion, if you're looking for a posh place to stay this isn't for you. But if you're looking for a good clean place to put your head down that offers more than you feel you should be getting for the peanuts that you'd paid then give it a whirl. I gave the hotel 4/5 as most of the annoyances were actually beyond their control.

I would definitely stay here again.

Look like the Hotel room get newly renovated recently. Bathroom has marble floor and wall. New comfortable King size bed. Flat screen TV. Room size is small but ok. Staff is helpful. Free Internet terminal at lobby. Metro station is a 5 minutes walk. Metro is 40 min from Manhatten. Transportation to JFK airport is convinence. Take bus Q3 outside Terminal 4 to the last bus stop will get you to the street next to the Hotel (2 min walk). The hotel is located in Jamaica town that has a feel of nosie, traffic, dirt .... See police patrol car everyday while I was there. I feel safe. But others may get intimidated by the neighborhood.

We stayed at the Ramada Queens for four nights while attending a graduation at St. John's, which is only about a mile or two from the Ramada. As others have said, the neighborhood leaves much to be desired and I don't recommend walking too far at night. However, the hotel itself was surprisingly nice. The bed was great, with lots of pillows. The breakfast was just so-so...but it was free, so...

The only negative thing was the fact that a hotel staffer chose to reload the soda machine at 11:00pm one night. The racket must have awakened everyone on the floor, since the floors are very compact and the soda machine is within distance of all the rooms. Also, the room doors all seemed to have a very loud creaking to them, which was a bit irritating listening to your neighbors opening and closing their door late at night.

Otherwise, this hotel worked well for us, as it was close to St. John's and the subway. We may stay again when we go back in the next year, or so.

My best friend and I visited NYC for the first time, and when we drove into the area that this hotel was located, were a bit..terridied due to the fact that it's not in the best part of town, however when we walked inside it was a big shock!

It's so pretty inside, with marble floors and everything! The rooms were sooo nice, with pretty decor, nice bathroom, flat screen tvs and so much more. The room was VERY clean, and the price was definitely worth it! The subways were located all over the place so you dont have to walk a long distance to get to them, however, the main thing i'd like to stress to newcomers is that it IS in a bad neighborhood..so try not to be out really late alone. But if youre in a large group, you should be fine.

There is free parking, but there's only about 6 parking spots, so its a first come first serve basis..however, after we checked out, we wanted to see more attractions and the hotel staff was SO nice, they let us keep our car parked there until we got back. The staff was VERY nice, very respectable, and very understanding. They told us how to get places and were very helpful!

If you're on a budget, this is a great hotel! However, if you can afford to spend a little more to get in a better neighborhood, I would recommend doing that.

We had to stay one night in New York before we went to Miami. This night we spent on Ramada Queens Hotel. Our meeting with the hotel was very fine. The room was clean, and the staff was nice. The hotel had complimentary breakfast, which was totally eatable. :)

The Ramada Inn in the Jamaica section of Queens was booked for me by our Administrative Assistant for $80/night. I was somewhat fearful because I did not think a hotel in New York City for under $100 could be nice. However, I was very surprised and pleased with this hotel!

The hotel opened in August 2008 and everything is new, clean and beautiful! The beds are great - very comfortable with great linens and lots of pillows.

The TV is a fantastic flat screen. The continental breakfast offered in the morning had great NYC bagesl and delicious coffee. What more could one want?

There is a small parking lot and we were able to get free parking!

My only complaint is that it was hard to find a full-service restaurant within walking distance and the hotel desk staff could not offer any good suggestions. I would definitely stay at the Ramada again but would research restaurants in advance.

The Ramada in Queens is a gem!
