They offer free breakfast but don't eat it. the man cleaning the area went to clean the tables with a rag and then used the same rag to clean the dish the bread was on. ALSO he was restocking the food and sneezed in his hand and then continued adding bread or donuts on the tray. GROOSS

My family & I booked this hotel based largely on the price for our visit to NYC. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. From the moment we walked into the lobby to check in there were issues.
We reserved 2 rooms which were paid for in advance & confirmed this via telephone the night before arrival. However, upon arrival were told that 4 rooms had been booked in our names, 2 of which were still unpaid for. Right off the bat we were met with attitude & disinterest in trying to work through the situation. We were yelled at for no reason & it was obvious that customer service is not the priority in this hotel.

Once we actually got into the rooms we quickly noted why we were able to receive the hotel at such a "great" price; you definitely receive what you pay for & not one bit over.

The bed linens were tremendously stained & looked as though they had not been changed in between guests. The room in general was in need of a complete update; stained carpets, yellowing walls, & stained curtains. Of the 3 wall unit air conditioners in our room, only 1 was in working condition & was barely able to keep one corner of the room cooled.

There is only 1 elevator for roughly 8-10 floors in the hotel for both guests & staff. Do not expect to be able to utilize the elevator during the hours housekeeping is going through the hotel.

Another factor in choosing this hotel was for it's proximity to a subway station. It is roughly 3 blocks from the closest subway station, but that is where the convenience stops. The commute into Manhattan by subway is at least 45 minutes with multiple transfers. Cab fare one-way is at least $40.00 minimum.

Speaking of cabs, they are few & far between in this neighborhood. On multiple occasions it was extremely difficult to locate a single taxi; let alone find an open one. If you ask the hotel staff for assistance with calling a taxi service you will quickly find out that they "do not know of any" yellow cab services or phone numbers & will be reluctant to attempt to help you locate one. If you do choose to go through the front desk for a taxi, you will wind up with a limo/town car service which is obviously owned or operated by the hotel staff.

**I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS NEIGHBORHOOD FOR ANYONE TRAVELING WITH CHILDREN**.

My sister, my cousin, & myself are all in our early 20s & were fairly anxious to stay in this neighborhood once we arrived. If you are planning on traveling with children I do not recommend this location. Late night commutes from a day spent in Manhattan are nerve wracking. There were sirens going off at all hours of the night & the noise is outrageous.

I actually met a girl on the subway who was from Queens & she told me that even she goes out of her way to avoid being in this neighborhood.

Do yourself a favor & spend a little extra money to stay in a nicer hotel in a more family-friendly neighborhood. Trust me, it will be worth it!
