We were on a trip to Ithaca for a visit to Cornell with my daughter, I thought the location was great. Close to restaurants and great nightlife. Ithaca is an interesting little town. Like a 1960's time warp..Hippies everywhere. Loved it!

No problems with the service, there were about four weddings being held that weekend and none of the employees seemed stressed out. Also had no problem requesting a ride to/from the airport on their airport shuttle/van.

The room was fine, no complaints. I was so thankful for the air conditioning, it was really hot the weekend I went. Also, they have free wi-fi in all of the rooms which really helped me figure out where to eat, etc.

Location is right next to the shopping center downtown so there are plenty of little places to walk around/eat. Also pretty close to Ithaca Falls and the Farmer's Market (about a mile away).

The best thing about this Holiday Inn was its location right next to downtown Ithaca and central to all the events I was attending the weekend I stayed. Having said that this hotel was not up to average Holiday Inn quality. Our room was up a winding staircase from the lobby, no elevator service and no porter readily available to help with luggage. Although our room was clean, it was somewhat shabby and I could not get past the very stained, worn, unvacuumed carpeting on the staircase and hallway leading to the room. The sound insulation between rooms was also very poor. The parking lot was very crowded and inadequate. We had to park on the street and in a parking garage across the street. The staff was pleasant. Even at th 130 priceline price we paid, it was overpriced.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights in July 2010, having called ahead to make sure that there would be accomodations with 2 beds. We were told that most of the rooms have two beds, so we shouldn't worry. When we arrived, we learned that there had been a watermain burst and that there were no rooms with two beds. During our stay, the following went wrong: our key cards had to be redone four times; one elevator is permanently out of service; our phone did not work; there was insufficient parking in the lot; the breakfasts were poorly prepared and took much too long to be served. So if you don't care about the number of beds, are prepared to walk up the stairs and/or wait for the one working elevator, keep having your keys redone, like lousy and slow breakfasts and don't need to use the phone, this place is for you.
On a postiive note, the staff were very concerned and polite, and tried (albeit in vain) to remedy the problems. They were the only reason we did not make more of a fuss than we could have - we appreciated all they tried to do and didn't want any of them to bear the blame for what management should have been dealing with.

The room was big, clean and comfortable. The bed was comfortable but they could use a few extra pillows because the ones provided were tiny. The price was a little high considering we were there mid-week. The rest of the hotel was also very clean and well kept. Stay away from Max's (hotel restaurant). We went for drinks and a light snack. We ordered our drinks and while the bartender was making one drink properly, the manager came over and had him make it a different way completely screwing up the drink. An attentive waitress saw this happen and went in the back to get another manager who came out and remade the drink properly. We were going to order food until we heard the first manager was going into the kitchen.

We were not too impressed with the Ithaca area so fortunately we were only there 1 night. Although the hotel was OK, I would not go back.

My girlfriend's job put us up for a few nights at the beginning of a week in June (Sunday through Tuesday), and this place was absolutely not worth the money. We've stayed at slouchy Red Roof Inns that were on par with this Holiday Inn.

The beds were comfortable, and each bed came with 2 firm pillows and 2 soft pillows--a nice touch. The bathroom toiletries were of the Bath & Body Works brand (but really, is everyone supposed to use "Volumizing" shampoo and conditioner wherever you go?), and the best piece of furniture in the room was the addition of a semi-new set of chairs that corresponded with a little round table. And that about concludes the good features of our stay.

When we arrived on Sunday the entire hotel was booked-up, and apparently by a Highway Department so despite having about 200 rooms (don't quote me?) there was absolutely NO PARKING in the lot, and it stayed this way for all three days that we were there, even after most of the "Highwaymen" had left on Tuesday. How do you run a busy hotel in the middle of a downtown collegetown and not plan for enough parking for all of your guests? Other reviews mention that you can use the public parking garage across the street, but since this isn't advertised as an option, we never checked to see if HI would validate.

They seem to have some problem keeping reservations straight as noted by many other reviewers. At first we were told that they wouldn't have a double bed room for us but they'd slide us into a King, which sounded perfect, but then when we checked-in we were surprised to be greeted by our supposedly "all booked" double bed arrangement and the excuse was that the Highway guys had demanded Kings... even despite our reservation being made 2 months in advance.

Despite the shiny veneer of the lobby, our room itself was dangerously in need of remodeling. Some of the wallpaper paneling had at one point fallen down and was glued back up with bargain basement noticeably yellow glue. The in-room phone's receiver was yellowed and looked like it had been a throwback to the many years ago prior to when New York State had banned smoking indoors in public establishments. Even the electronic cardreader outside the room was worn and had metal peeling off of it.

The bathroom was a mold-haven: mold on the shower tile, mold on the shower fixtures, and of course mold on both the interior and exterior shower curtains, sheesh! Not to mention that the bathtub was slanted and the bathroom door looked like someone had tried knocking it in since even when closed, both the top and bottom bowed inward. The tile around and under the sink had been slapped back in place with a hefty amount of caulk, and there were remnants of old an old fixture that we couldn't even figure out it originally was supposed to be, yet there it stood still bolted to the doorjamb.

The room was decently insulated--but since we were at a corner we only had to deal with the neighbors from above and across the room by the tv, the rest was mostly hallways. The greatest noise complaint came from the room's door to the hall, which apparently could've been made of foamboard for all that it helped to conceal the noise, between guests lugging and smashing their luggage through the hall and from the cleaning crew making their rounds anywhere from 7:31am through 9am, it was definitely hard to get a solid amount of sleep.

I don't know if we simply had the worst room in the hotel or not, but since we were on the bottom floor, the only view out the window was of the crowded parking lot. The best part yet however, was that just outside our window was one of the main entrances from said parking lot, and this just so happens to be an unofficially designated spot for the smoker's to go and sitdown at the decorative bench (how nice). So whenever we ran the antique jalopy of an air conditioner/heating unit it sucked in all of the cigarette smoke from outside, hooray! (On a sidenote, the first night we called up the front desk because some college-age girl was chainsmoking and on her cellphone right outside for what seemed like an hour and the guy at the desk sounded like he was going to take wing and fly from behind his polished check-in desk to address the problem.)

Honestly, we wouldn't stay at this place again even if it was free.

I stayed here twice on business, and had a king size room in the tower both times. My room was spotless, and very quiet. The bed was SO comfortable and I loved the pillows! I had a corner room with a great view. The bathroom was huge and I really liked the Bath and Body Works products. The front desk staff and the restaurant staff were great to deal with. I'd stay there again anytime if I was in the area for business or vacation.
