“Bet Motel Bargain in Ithaca Area”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

Yes, it's older and somewhat rustic, but I'm glad we found this place. We needed a place to stay a night before heading to our campsite at Taughannock Falls State Park. Our room was large and convenient, and he location is great - close to Buttermilk Falls State Park and Ithaca, both of which we visited from here. It bills itself as dog-friendly, which it certainly is, with a play area with signs saying "pets only allowed on play equipment." But we didn't have a pet with us. We were drawn by two things: the very reasonable room rates and that fact that each room in our building has a bird feeder right outside the window. We spent an hour or so looking for birds around the grounds in the morning and found many. The staff were very friendly and allowed us to leave our pop-up camper parked there after we checked out so we could get breakfast and explore Buttermilk Falls a bit. The only drawbacks were that one of us had a little discomfort with the soft bed an it is close to busy Rt. 13. We did not notice the latter inside, however.

Room Tip: Our room was in Treman Lodge and was very nice.

Grayhaven Motel is a great place for a family getaway. The Keurig is always available in the front office, the rooms are spacious, and the towels are not filled with fabric softener. Plus, Magic, the owner's dog is such a lovable thing. The pros outweigh the cons, but to be fair here are the cons. Being energy saving minded, we told staff not to change the towels or sheets while we were there. So we didn't get maid service at all for 1 or 2 days of our 4 day stay. And the room smelled so musty, that everything in our suitcases smelled musty for three days after we left. Such an easy fix, too. I'd like to go back if only I read a review saying the musty smell was gone from those rooms!

This is a wonderful hotel for people traveling with dogs. Just about all of the rooms are dog friendly and the hotel contains a fenced in dog walking and exercise area that is terrific. The quality of the rooms themselves is excellent. It has a very relaxing and pleasant atmosphere. It also is in a good location. Just outside of the main drag of shopping in Ithaca, it is in a quiet and peaceful location.

Room Tip: There are rooms further away from the main road if you would like it to be quiet. Often, needed wit...

The motel is a bit on the older side but is kept very clean. Some of the rooms are also very cute. Not too far from the wineries either. Pleasant stay nonetheless.

The single double bed room has an electric fireplace along with some open space for a small party.

Nothing fancy, but totally adequate and clean. As would be expected at a place that allows dogs and is priced so reasonably, there weren't any extra frills, but everything worked and was as described on the web site. We stayed in #12 of the Treman Lodge section of the hotel and the room was big and had a large window which looked out on an active bird feeder (we saw gold finches and red wing blackbirds as well as others). #12 is close to the road, so there was noise from passing traffic, especially during rush hour. The pen where the dogs could play was great.

Room Tip: #11, 12, and 14 are closest to the road, so there is road noise.

We never expect 5 star since we travel with our dog. This was great as it had a fenced in dog play area. The motel was
just fine for being pet friendly but maybe a little over-priced for November. My biggest complaint was the uncomfortable bed.
It was hard and lumpy. I love a firm mattress but I awoke every morning with a backache. Thank-you Aleve for helping me through that. The front desk people were friendly and helpful. I would return but request a more comfortable bed.

Went there for an overnight stopover on a multi-day road trip. Seems to be geared towards the dog lovers crowd, with dog playpens and all. We did not have any pets with us. Rooms are exactly as described and pictured on the motel's website: older style but very clean and spacious.
The place was generally quiet in the evening and during the night, but when the morning rush hour started, you could hear that traffic very well. Ok for one morning, but could become an issue after a few days. Free wi-fi is a nice touch. Reasonable room rate. Proximity to tons of restaurants within a couple miles.

Room Tip: Try to get a room as far from the highway as possible in order to minimize the road noise level duri...
