You can walk to the edge of the falls like we did or you can even walk under it like a fisherman did while we stood there watching in amazement! Tho this waterfall is not as grand as some of the others in the area what was amazing was stumbling on it right outside the beautiful Cornell Campus and doing a double take and finally parking and going to explore it closer. That's how intriguing this falls is from the road

Flowing right through the Cornell Campus and thundering right in the City of Ithaca, Ithaca Falls is one of the most beautiful in the world. You can park right at it on the site of former mills dependent upon the year-round water power but now long gone with a lovely park as their legacy. Walk right up to near the bottom of these gorgeous falls to listen to their thunder and get drenched by their mists.

Each of the 10 waterfalls in the area are worth seeing. If you can go further, so see the falls at Watkins Glen too. I lived in the area for 7 years and never tired of hiking the falls. See them all!!

There is a great selection of environments to choose among. For high-volume water without a big hike, I would choose Ithaca Falls, which you can see from the road or take a short hike down in. For impressive height and a nice overlook but not always a lot of water, it's Taughannock Falls, which also has a lovely park nearby. For picnicking, hiking, and legal swimming, Treman Falls is the best choice. For beautiful rock formations, good hikes, and interesting nature sights, I'd choose Buttermilk Falls.

Wonderful areas to explore. Hiking is available for different skill and fitness levels. Natural beauties! So interesting to learn about the natural history of the area by studying the rock formations and vegetation.
