We pass this place all the time on the trip from home to work but my boyfriend had a bad experience here when he first moved to town. On a whim, he suggested giving it a second try and we have been fans ever since.

The place is not fancy but the food is good, the staff is friendly and we have no complaints. We've tried a few things and always seem to go back to the gyro and Souvlaki House Special. There are leftovers no matter how hungry we are. The breadsticks that come with the meal can be hit or miss. Sometimes there are fresh and great and other times they seem to be old and a bit stale. The greek salad is always great, however.

I had to try the Spanakopita after reading the raving reviews, as spanakopita is one of my favorite recipes, but I am very picky about it. It was very good, much better than what passes as spanakopita in most restaurants, but not excellent. It needed a little more feta cheese in the filling. It was a little too spinachy! And it had to be thicker to balance the cruchiness with the softness of the inner layers. The other thing that caught my attention was the raving reviews about the bread and salad. Once again, the garlic bread was very good, but not excellent. It needed more garlic butter, especially inside. The salad on the other hand was excellent, although the serving was a little too big for one person.

Pulled up because we were in the mood for greek and we found this place on line. As were pulling up eiether the owner or a worker come from the side of the restaurant with a empty live trap, then to top it off he blows his nose in his hand and wipes it all on his apron. Classic seinfeld episode,I would never ever eat there!!

Ate here all the time in college - now 20 years later with the family - great food, large portions, great service. Highly recommended.

If you like greek food and don't mind casual (not a fancy) place, you will enjoy Souvlaki House. Don't bother ordering another type of food - greek is what they are really good at. If you are going there Friday-Saturday night, you might want to call in advance. Note that they do not serve alcoholic beverages.
