“Lovely accommodations in a rustic natural setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2013

We recently spent a three day weekend amongst the Fall foliage of this lovely "hotel". It is really more of a bed and breakfast with an engaging host, Michael Casper. The accommodations are luxurious yet set in an out of the way rustic setting. We stayed in the smallest of the rooms, the "Pond View" but it was large enough for two. The breakfasts were substantial - and made to order - Anything from eggs any way you like to eggs Benedict to pancakes to oatmeal to Michael's homemade corned beef hash (nothing like the stuff you usually get in a diner!). It's really not too far from the city of Ithaca and very convenient to Ithaca College and Buttermilk Falls State Park. We have stayed at other B&Bs and hotels in the area and this place is far and away the best place we have stayed. We shall stay here again on our next Finger Lakes vacation.

This was not simply any old hotel or bed and breakfast experience...the property was beautiful, the room immaculate, the food amazing and made to order, and the host (Michael) an exceptional person. This is a sure thing!

My wife and I enjoyed our 2 days stay at Private Hotel-Pure Food. The host, Michael Casper, was warm and welcoming, generous in service and very personable. The kitchen staff was equally hospitable. The breakfasts were sumptuous, and the grounds were lovely in their late October foliage. We would definitely go there again when we visit Ithaca.

Our family of five had a great experience over the course of three nights in August while moving our daughter in at Cornell, and we look forward to a return visit in November. The property was beautiful, our rooms were very nice, breakfast was excellent - literally, anything we could think of. We also took the opportunity to enjoy the outdoor sauna and had a nice bond fire with smores one of the evenings. The location was very convenient to Ithaca and the Cornell campus. We will stay here every time we visit over the next four years.

My brand new fiancé and I stayed in the Gables Room and we absolutely loved the room as well as the grounds and the food. Michael was incredibly accommodating and helped us get dinner reservations at some amazing restaurants and generally made us feel at home. The location is perfect – secluded but a short drive into town. This was a wonderful place to celebrate our engagement and to truly relax. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Lovely area, nice setting. Michael makes you feel at home and welcome. We enjoyed talking with him. He is a very interesting person. Lots of things to do in the area. Would definitely go back.
Central location for exploring finger lakes area. Nearby Cornell is a lovely campus, nice art museum and a good lunch at the Stadler Hotel

My wife and I stayed at Private Hotel + Pure Food for 1 night as a quick, weekend getaway. We were very pleased with the amenities and decor of our room (Gables Room). The property is a relatively short drive from the city which could be a slight inconvenience for some, but it provides a very secluded feel that we loved. Breakfast is delicious and kept us feeling full for most of the day. Michael is very attentive to guests and will recommend places to check out if you are looking for things to do. Michael and his staff want to be sure your expectations are exceeded and that you are enjoying your stay, which is a refreshing change from the typical hotel experience...

We only wish we could have stayed for longer!

Room Tip: Ask Michael, he will give you an honest assessment of each room... that said - breakfast is served i...
