“Beautiful house, great gourment breakfast.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 6, 2010

The main house is absolutely gorgeous, and is located right in downtown Ithaca. Lynette, the owner, couldn't have been more helpful and gracious. She helped recommend restaurants and places to visit in the area, gave us excellent directions, and even helped us check in for our Delta flight the next day (and print our boarding passes).
The breakfast was fantastic - a truly gourmet experience. Our room was in the separate carriage house, which has less character than the main house, but was still comfortable. A DVD player in the room would have been a nice touch, but the TV and cable service were very good. There are a lot of Cornell students living in the immediate area, and they are out and about until well into the evening.

We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us! I'm just so sorry that we didn't know you would have enjoyed a DVD player. In the information book in our guest rooms is a list of all the amenities that are available (night book lights; magnifier make up mirror; beach towels etc) and a personal DVD player.
Should you stay with us again (and we do hope you will!), please just mention what you're looking for. If we don't have it, we'll do our best to obtain it for you.
Many thanks,
Lynnette Scofield

I was up in Ithaca for a night to attend a conference, and was looking for a convenient place to stay in town. I got that and much more. The Inn was a real treat--lots of character, ideal location (right in the middle of Ithaca, walkable to town and a short ride to Cornell), and great innkeepers--extremely warm and welcoming, chatted with us for quite a while, and helped us with directions to restaurants in town and Cornell. The dessert is possibly the best part--a full spread of cookies, cakes, and pies was awaiting us after our return at night. A hearty breakfast welcomed us in the morning. Overall a great relaxing experience!

Lynnette Scofield and her staff are exemplary. The breakfasts in the morning are absolutely delicious: hot coffee or tea, fresh juices, cold cereals, a hot fruit "appetizer" and your choice of a savory egg dish or a sweet pancake or waffle; changing daily. The coffee is always on, and in the evening a dessert selection of home baked yummies is available on the sideboard. The rooms are beautiful, and the common rooms (dining room, music room and parlor) are comfortable and welcoming. Our stay was with a large group of extended family, and there was something for everyone. There is one room that is pet friendly, and one that is handicapped accessible. All rooms have large private bathrooms. The location is right in downtown Ithaca, a 5 minute walk to excellent food, shopping and drinking establishments. Our stay was impeccable. Thanks, Lynnette!!

i had the pleasure to spend one night at the William Henry Miller Inn on my way back from Toronto. What a lovely surprise. The Victorian architecture was superb, surpassed only by the innkeepers (Lynnette, Dave & Katie) and the delicious evening baked goods and yummy breakfast.

My friend and i shared the turret room which was perfect for us. It has a queen bed and a trin bed in the turret. The en-suite bath was tastefully decorated and clean.

We had dinner at The Moosewood Restaurant (a dream since college) and it was great!

Lynnette gave us great suggestions for a quick shopping tour of the craft/art galleries and Dave provided excellent and scenic directions for our return home. Can't wait to return for a longer visit

We stayed overnight in the William Henry Miller Inn and it turned into a highlight of our trip to New York city and state. I can only endorse the high praise heaped upon this inn and its innkeeper Lynnette by all the other reviewers here. She deserves all the accolades.
She merits 'legend' status at her trade, which she elevates to art form. I think other hoteliers and innkeepers should stay here and learn how hospitality should be done.
It would be hard to imagine a more stunning house, more comfortable accommodation or a warmer welcome than the one we got here.
I can only describe it as like going to stay with a favourite aunt in her much loved house and being thoroughly spoiled. It's like coming home, except home was never this good!
I'd like to think we'd get the chance to go back again sometime and stay longer.

We have stayed at a number of bed and breakfasts through the years, and Lynette was by far the best host/hostess that we have met. She made us feel welcome and took care of all of the little things to make your stay enjoyable. The breakfasts were delicious and the company was pleasant. We would definetely recommend this inn to anyone thinking of staying in the Ithaca, New York area or visiting Cornell University.

When it comes to B&B's.. this one tops the list! What makes it so special is the incredible owner, Lynette (we didn't get a chance to meet David,).
From the moment we checked in, Lynette responded to every question or request we had. We asked for restaurant recommendations, directions, and other information, and within minutes, she printed the information and slipped it under our door!

The breakfast was wonderful, and the dessert buffet included something for everyone (gluten free, vegan, sugar-free) and was delicious!

Add that the inn is walking distance to town and includes free, off-street parking, and you have an incredible bargain.
