Description: The AGAVA restaurant concept is rooted in local, farm-to-table cuisine, seasonal menu and a Southwest-Inspired palette. One of the central design and functional elements is a wood-fired oven with eating bar in the main dining space, serving up flatbreads and a range of other fire-roasted cuisine. Our bar is destination of its own; from the unique spirits & cocktails, to an environment and space you have to see for yourself. We feature one of the most unique interior spaces in the central NY region, drawing from both southwestern design elements like “latillas’ as well as local historical features like reclaimed barn wood. We’re based in the old East Ithaca Train Station, commissioned in 1876 by Ezra Cornell.

“Amazing food, great service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2013

I arrived a little early for dinner service, so the restaurant manager took care of me initially. Once I was seated the server made sure we had free chips and salsa while we looked at our menu. I ended up eating and drinking for hours and hours with my friends. We ordered several rounds of food and drinks, the cider they have on tap right now is great! Mix it with a little of the dry cider they have bottled and it's even better. The "Bacon & Eggs" dish is a must try. Juicy delicious pork belly, topped with an egg and what tasted like a Jimmy Nordello pepper - too good to be true. I had it twice.

I was there long enough to see the owner of the restaurant help several customers while they waited to be seated inside or on the back porch (it was a busy night), bringing extra chairs, chips and salsa, drinks, even an outdoor heater to the already comfortable waiting area in front of the restaurant. Totally impressed.

“Delicious, nice atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2013

This restaurant was packed on a Wednesday night. Food was very good, and the atmosphere was modern with some unique artwork (I think local artists that may change). Service was prompt - and server was working hard on a busy night.

“wood oven and agave”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

very popular and very busy, but we were able to be seated right way in front of the wood fired oven. good "pizza", or foccacia with toppings. tasty inexpensive margherita served on ice in a water glass with salted rim: down home but good, my wife enjoyed her pomegranite mojito more.

“Was a miss all around”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013

This was our second visit to this neighborhood restaurant. The experience all around was not a good one. Service was slow and particularly inattentive. I had the signature dish - the Agava Hamburger. It was very greasy, so much so, that the bun was soaked with grease. Shoe string fries were good. Our other dish was not explained well by the waitress and was not edible because it was too spicy. The waitress, in a somewhat rude tone, took the dish and never returned to retake our other order. The manager did come to visit our table but was not very gracious in her explanation that "everyone else loves the food" or "that is one of our most popular dishes". Not really good customer service. In this case, the meals were not executed well and both the waitress and management were not responsive nor skilled in dealing with the situation.
