We had spent a hot day working outside and when the topic of dinner came up Ciao's was an obvious choice. It's close by, has reasonable prices, good variety and they understand gluten free. We enjoy their palenta fries and the gluten free pizza crust is good.

Service has always been good there. Today our server, Chea, had a major spill on another table but was still attentive. She was pleasant and helpful.

They will substitue for the pasta in the various Italian dishes. I had the chicken basil salad on a gluten free pizza crust. It was excellant.

We went on a recent weekday afternoon and were the only customers there, however our waiter was the bartender and was more concerned with flirting with the female co-workers at the bar than actually providing service to us. The food was at best average - contrary to other reviews I have read - prices were moderate.
I would not recommend.

Ciao has a delicious menu, you can't go wrong with anything you choose. I am partial to the wood-fired pizza. Delicious!!! Love Ciao for lunch. Their salad & pizza for $8 is a great deal, you get a big 'personal' pizza, will definitely fill you up & even leave leftovers.

We were on our way to Ithaca and searched tripadvisor on our way and chose to eat here.

For a Saturday evening we had a 20 min wait. Very busy with a full parking lot.

Excellent variety on the menu including a separate menu for vegetarians. We all ended up ordering pasta dishes. Wished we lived closer so we could try the pizza. Our server was enthusiastic and very attentive. Food arrived without much delay. The polenta fries are worth getting as a good alternative to French fries.

Would definitely eat here again. The wait is worth it.

Don't let the exterior of the restaurant fool you. It is not anything like an Olive Garden or other chain Italian restaurant.

One note- tripadvisor has the wrong address listed. The restaurant is on 2 Hickory Hollow Lane, Ithaca. 2 Hickory Rd leads to a rural neighborhood!

While this tends to be a busy restaurant, we have always had good food and good service. Soon after being seated, you always get a small basket with a few slices of bread and oil to munch on. This last visit was for lunch. I ordered the salmon salad special that was very good - had a wonderfully delicious piece of perfectly cooked salmon on top of a bed dof greens, with goat cheese and almonds. My companion had the pesto pizza as an entree (his favorite which he always orders - has shrimp, tomatoes, mozzarella and pesto), a side garden salad and a soda. Our food was served in a reasonable amount of time. The waitress stopped by periodically to check on us and brought a few soda refills. Today's total came to $27 + tax and tip. The atmosphere is nice, and if seated in a good spot, you can watch pizzas being made in a wood-fire oven. The place is very clean and has a sleek look to it. There are a variety of customers - business folks, families with small children, couples, larger groups. We did end up waiting for a little while at the end for our check today, but during our meal the waitress was attentive. We enjoyed our experience and look forward to returning.
