We had a great visit on vacation. The gorge is full of energy and beauty - a very nice, cool spot on a hot summer day!

So nice to see such lovely falls. And just steps from the parking. I hiked up the stone steps right next to the falls for an enjoyable view.

Robert Treman State Park is a beautiful Park. There are cabins and tent sites for lodging. The Gorge Trail runs along the gorge through the forest and by the waterfalls and creek. It is 2 miles long. They have reinforced steep areas with wooden steps and along the waterfalls there are stone steps and walls. The trail is challenging but we kept hiking with intermittent breaks...we aren't in great physical condition yet but are working on it. Someone in good physical condition could hike it or even run the trail. The upper falls area has restrooms and picnic tables. The lower falls area has a playground and picnic tables, swimming with a diving board near a waterfall and restrooms nearby. The park has other trails in it but we haven't tried to hike those yet. If you like being out in nature you will love this park. Even though it was busy when we were there it was still peaceful and serene at times. You can't see the park from the main roads. We had lived in the area for years and had not discovered this treasure until a little over a year ago. If you are in or near Ithaca this park is a must see.

Here's the pros- waterfall you can swim in with COLD water, decent room in cabins, clean hot showers, great kids playgrounds. Cons- can't count on swimming- 3 days out of our week was poor water quality= no swimming, only one bathhouse for whole campground, one playground is entirely in sun- too hot to play on, no set week minimum for campers to stay= people constantly coming and going

The surrounding areas of Ithaca are brimming with waterfalls! We spent a day traveling to see as many as we could. Robert Truman State Park was definitely one of our favorites! A nice hike rewarded us with beautiful falls.
