This is my favorite place to get away for a medium distance trail run close to Ithaca. The rim trail to the base of Lucifer Falls, then up the Lucifer Falls steps and on to the top at the Old Mill, then loop back on either the gorge trail, or the Finger Lakes Trail is a favorite. If I want more distance, I just hop under the Rte 13 overpass at the base of the park at the creek and then into the Lick Brook area. Some of the Treman trails are closed in the winter. Admission fee is only collected in the busy season.

Best place to cool down on a hot, humid summer day. Swim under the waterfall, float under the shadow of the trees. Perfect chill down spot!

If you love to hike, this is a great place for that. The waterfall and mountain views are so beautiful. However, if you have a teen son who hates hiking,, keep him home so he won't spoil this trip. ;(

There are a lot of great parks in the Ithaca region, but this one has a slight edge on a few fronts.
Public Swimming with lifeguards is available during summer season. Swimming is at the base of a large waterfall as well -- something everyone should experience at least once.
Hiking is stunning and not too short.
Lucifer Falls is well worth the hike -- stunning waterfall.
Certainly a must-visit.

Treman park was built in the 1930s as park of the Conservation Corp. Incredible trails (pretty challenging if you do the falls loop but worth it) and a classic swimming area complete with waterfall you can climb on.
