Best gyros and excellent service; all of their food is fantastic. Cash only but they have an ATM on site.

We were impressed with the portion size at Pete's. We ordered a large plate of hummus for dipping and it was filled with flavor and more than adequate in size. We were rather surprised, on the other hand, that for a "dipping" plate, no bread (pita) or other item was included to actually dip into this dipping plate. Instead,a pita costs $1.25 and pita chips could also be purchased for a higher price. The menu is a substantial one with many choices for all appetites and interests. We ordered chicken gyros which we agreed were flavorful, generous in size, and were a three-napkin affair what with all the chicken, onions, yogurt sauce, lettuce overflowing the gyro bread. A bit over-priced as a lunch item, though. We finished with a very decent-sized baklava that was not cloyingly sweet as some baklava can be; just the right amount of honey, and might have been even better with more pistachios. We were certainly filled up after this hearty meal. The specials menu had some very impressive and healthy options and we will try those the next time we dine here. Appealing looking dessert, Mediterranean dishes, and salad items can be viewed in a "deli"-style case and are available for take-out. By the way, Pete's is situated on VERY busy Austin Boulevard, and we were impressed that we could not hear a sound of the cars whizzing by.

We eat there frequently and take out weekly. It is not fancy, but the food is great. The owner is always there and very involved. It is a pleasure to see him and he is always friendy to all of his customers. This is a restaurant that you should try. You will surely return. They DO NOT take credit cards and their parking lot is small.
