The food here was excellent. There were five of us and everyone said the food was excellent. The hostess however was terrible. She kept us waiting a half hour when there were many empty tables. The couple before us finally left because they were tired of waiting. We could not figure out what she was doing during the time she kept customers waiting. The line behind us kept getting bigger and bigger and noone was being seated. Very strang. The food did make up for it.
The prices were reasonable. A glass of wine was $4-. Shephers Pie was $11-.

My husband and I discovered this restaurant about four years ago and it is our now our mecca for our annual Adirondack trek (about 3 plus hours from our home). The food is so good, great menu (I always get the Shepherd's pie). In the fall when we are there the fireplace is burning cheerfully and the atmosphere is just peaceful and old-time great. The waitresses and cooks serve with a smile, are very attentive even when the place is full of customers. Can't wait for next year to go back!

We were on our way to the Adirondack Museum and stopped for lunch. We both had the "burger melt" which was served on marbled rye with sauteed onions, cheese and "hand made" beef patties - cooked to order, medium rare. It was super delicious. The home made potato fries were the best! This was our first time here and we would highly recommend it. The staff was super attentive and the fireplace on a chilly afternoon was really welcoming.

servers try very hard, very large eclectic menu---how does a restaurant in the center of the ADKs have the best calamari?? also great steaks and salad, and very well priced bar drinks....

Stopped here on the way in and the way out of a week of camping up in Long Lake, NY. The food was pretty good and the portions generous. Love the interesting selection of side dishes. They do a great job with collard greens and mac n cheese. I had the orange ginger shrimp at one meal and the meatloaf at another. Both great. The duck wings are large and tasty. The smoked trout mousse is another interesting appetizer you don't see everywhere. They have a pretty decent selection of wines by the glass and a cute little liquor store is attached in case you're running low on bottles for your camping expeditions....
