We've come to like the 'hibachi' experience. We found one near us that we generally like. But today we happened to be in Huntington, and wanted to eat there before heading home, and found Tomo. We saw the existing reviews here, and decided to try it.
The worst thing in the place was the awful music - and after we and other patrons complained, it was quickly turned down. The 2nd worst problem; a small error in the sushi part of my order. I get a roll instead of a hand roll. Still tasted very good - as did everything we had. Third worst; they charge extra for fried rice instead of white rice. That's not exactly unusual, really not a big deal.
Our request to keep shrimp away from my wife's food was very willingly honored. We got the usual 'hibachi chef entertainment', done with zest and in fun for all.
My wife tried Chilean Sea Bass for the first time. I actually tasted it first. I'm not much into cooked fish - but this was very, very good. I had scallops, which were also quite good, not overcooked as often happens when cooked this way. The onion mushroom soup was very nice, and the usual salad was fine.
Service was mostly accurate and polite. The prices were quite typical for this type of place in this area. Overall, we had a very nice meal and would be happy to go back, and bring others with us!
