“Way to blow Groupon”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2013

Booked this deal on Groupon with lift tickets. My boyfriend and I were going up for the night just to ski for the day and leave in the morning. What a dump. This place is in need of a serious makeover. The room was disgusting, filthy and certainly outdated. The staff was as discourteous as possible upon arrival. After seeing our room, we promptly left to find another hotel to spend the night, when my boyfriend turned in the room key and politely reasoned with the desk that the room was simply inadequate for our stay, she retorted that the place was just old and demanded our lift tickets back even though we hadn't asked for any sort of refund. We were out the price on the room and the tax charged upon arrival, a small price to pay to get the hell out of that drab "Spa". Better luck next time Groupon.

Room Tip: Choose another hotel.

We stayed for three nights. While our room and other facilities are dated, we did not focus on that. Instead, we made friends with other two ladies staying here and customized the program and the food. We asked Chef Chris to cook what we liked and the instructors to take us on two hour walks. We feel very rested and relaxed as a result of our stay!

I bought the deal on Groupon. One night and 2 ski lift tickets. Where do I start? There is no spa. False advertising. It was her birthday, I book this trip as she loves spas....well, one does not exist there. Read other reviews. Room-one star. Strong musty smell, dirty walls, cigarette burns in the carpet. Rundown and in need of major renovation. At one point, maybe still is, this was some kind of weight loss facility. There is still old large scale at the entrance to the office. However there is no spa. Terrible experience all the way around. Ended up walking out within minutes, returned the key and asked for the tax to be refunded to my card. Ruined weekend.

Decided to book this place because of a Groupon deal. Location to Hunter mountain was the draw, but everything else was a let down. The lady that checked us in was not friendly at all. We had asked for a queen room, and they gave us two doubles. They were able to switch us to another room which had a queen and twin in it. The place had bare essentials, nothing fancy at all which is ok. Wasn't expecting that much, but for the price...major rip off. What really pissed me off was their claim of "breakfast included". Major let down. A sub par complimentary breakfast at best. I was expecting a B&B type breakfast. They had coffee, a few boxes of cereal and some store bought muffins. That was it! Would have much rather paid the money to go to the Crooked Cafe. No fresh fruit, no juice. Quite disappointing. I've had better continental breakfasts at roadside motels. This place is definitely not worth it. Would have rather stayed in the Howard Johnson down in Saugerties and made the drive up the mountain.

I bought this deal on Groupon and was marketed as Spa and some sort of luxury spa with continental breakfast yada yada. In reality this place is run down , dusty and bland place. I was really embarrassed and ruined my holiday plans. Stay away !

The only spa experience about this place was the snow outside.

We booked this and asked about their 'spa' services, I was told on the phone that prices for spa services would only be made available upon check in.
When we arrived, there is no spa, there isn't anything. An outside company must be booked a day in advance to come to your room. The place smells really musty and the rooms are really outdated, no amenities in the room, fridge, coffee, hairdryer, even water pressure.
When speaking to the owner, they offered us a $50 refund, which we happily took.
I laugh now, but at the time, sleeping on a sheet stained bed in a room that was so hot in the middle of December, that all the windows had to be open. there wasn't any laughing.

We left after the first night. I wish they had of told us that there is no spa facilities, and it is a weight loss clinic geared towards the over 50's.
There are some wonderful Lodge's and Spa's in the area, stay at one of those.

What shall I say? We bought a ski package on groupon and even with the discount I still felt like I paid too much. It was a weight loss resort, which was not advertised and not that we cared but it would have been nice to know. It was just a place to sleep...if you can sleep on a crumby bed. 4 beds for 2 people and TV sets from the '90s?? When we checked in we walked thru a room that smelled like they had 4 day old coffee still sitting on the burner. We received a dry welcome (I've gotten better service at a motel 6). Not sure where we could get water or any amenities so we ended going to a mini mart to get basics. I also wished I brought my blower dryer but ended up declining on washing the hair because there was no water pressure and women know how that sucks.

After a few hours of sleep, we woke up to 10" of fresh snow! That really took the sting out of the fact I was excited to see the "hearty continental breakfast". Come to find 2 plain bagels and what smelled like the same coffee from the prior day.

We did enjoy how close the place was to Hunter Ski Mnt and how it's right in between the town of Hunter and Tannersville. A quick note, there's this great cafe that makes rockin grilled cheese sandwiches but the more so divine open face tuna melt, we ordered it on French baguette, with thin sliced apples on top and ice cold beers...Last Chance Cheese Cafe, amazing.

We also enjoyed how easy it was to check in and out. my advice would be not advertise as a great lodge with a "hearty continental breakfast" and don't make the non weight loss people feel so awkward or out of place. Also please invest in body towels.

what's the point if I never want to come back or make the recommendation?

The guests had complained about noise during the night and not getting a good sleep so we allowed them a late check out at no cost to make up for it. The deal was a room for 2 for 1 night, 2 lift tickets and a continental breakfast for $235..A great deal, which also included wifi, phone, cable tv and use of facility. (indoor pool, gym etc.) Our staff brews fresh coffee every morning and the muffins and bagels are fresh baked here every morning also. Water, coffee and tea always available. We also provide meals for some guests, and yes some are low calorie, but it has no bearing what so ever on our ski packages. Lastly, we are one of the original rustic resorts in the Hunter area and we take pride in that. We have a small family like staff and go out of our way to please our guests.
