“hudson's #1 place to stay”

I've stayed here several times, and at other B&Bs and hotels in the Hudson area, and no other place comes close. The inn is an architectural gem, outside and inside. Decor is bohemian but always tasteful without being boring. My room was huge, comfortable, clean and quiet. Dini and Windle are consummate hosts who will do their utmost to please their guests. If they don't know the answer to a question about the area, they will find some one who does know. Delicious breakfasts, made to order. This is what the B&B experience is all about: interesting and gracious hosts, fine food, great lodging.

This place by far out does every B&B I've stayed in the U.S.. Besides the amazing mansion the hospitality of our two hosts, Dini & Windel was truly wonderful. Dini is an amazing cook, our breakfasts were absolutely to die for, better than any upscale brunch in NYC. Our room was larger than our living room at home, and the bathroom was large enough that two ladies could get ready at the same time and not bump into each other. The entire place was beautifully decorated and the garden was spectacular, I actually got to see a humming bird while I sat on the patio of the garden one foot in front of me, and I haven't seen that since I was a teen. The Inn is walking distance to all shops and restaurants which is great at night when you don't want to get in your car and drive around, or if you don't have car at all. And a special third host help me and my partner from missing our dogs, little Psyche, a border terrier who's happy to bring you her toy for a game of fetch. I recommend this place highly, don't bother with another place.

We visited Hudson to take in the many historic sites and mansions in the area. When we arrived at the Hudson Inn we we astonished at the gardens and condition of the place. Windel and Dini have done a fantastic job at restoration and their greeting was nothing short of warm and welcoming. While we visited the many mansions over 3 days we always returned to a room that rivaled anything we had seen in a Vanderbuilt or Rockerfeller home. The breakfasts were fanatasic and when we had to leave early Dini said just tell me the time and I wll be up to make it for you. The hospitality and stories from Dini will delight any visitor. This is a gem that anyone visiting the area should not miss.

Two principal reasons for a stay at The Inn at Hudson are the the experience of living in a truly great house designed by noted architect, Marcus Reynolds, and the gratification of the personal attention rendered by the hosts, Dini and Windle. My wife and I recently stayed at this establishment, and our expectations were surpassed.

To begin, our room overlooked Allen Street and the B&B's front garden. The bed was comfortable; the towels were soft and fluffy. Spending time in the room, we became aware of the exquisite floor constructed of flame maple in such a way as to form patterns. The bathroom is meticulously tiled recalling craftsmanship of a bygone era. The air conditioner worked perfectly, but so did the windows. Breakfast in the dining room is simply unforgettable. Seated on one side of the communal table, one's view is of the gracious central hallway and front entrance. On the opposite side, one sees a garden through stained glass French doors.

The breakfasts served in this room are spectacular. Dini buys the best ingredients and expends considerable thought on how to fashion them into individually prepared, complete meals. Poached eggs on sauteed slices of fresh tomato is but one example. French toast made from croissants is another. I mentioned an allergy to basil. Dini was only too happy to figure out a combination of herbs as an impromptu substitute. Of course the coffee and juice were excellent.

Beyond this, our hosts demonstrated particular care for our comfort and well being. While exploring Hudson, we got caught in a thunderstorm. Taking shelter in a coffee shop, we received a call on the cell phone. It was Dini asking if he might pick us up. When we got back, I asked Dini's advice on a restauraant for dinner. He called several of the local establishments to verify hours of operation and to get the latest menus. His recommendations were spot on. Another detail was the premium quality of the facial tissues and toilet paper.

These gentlemen are clearly interested in providing an experience for their guests that pampers and comforts. They have succeeded.

We arrived in a downpour and were met in the drive by hosts Dini and Windell carrying 2 huge umbrellas, there to welcome us and help us carry in our bags. How often have you had service like that? The historic inn has been renovated with love (it's a huge project and it's an on-going process) and an unwaveringly unique eye and is filled with art and beautiful objects from their careers and travel. You can feel entirely comfortable to wander through them or to sit in the library or solariumtor read or make use of their wireless internet. Our room was lovely and comfortable - especially the bed. Windell mentioned that in good weather he air dries the sheets on a clothesline outside to insure a fragrant softness that you can't get any other way! The gardens are beautiful and as unique as the house. Breakfast here is something to look forward to, the dining room is lovely and the table is set to perfection with everything one needs to have an enjoyable start to the day including multiple copies of the New York Times. Town is a short enjoyable walk away. I'm so glad we were lucky enough to have stumbled onto such a fabulous experience

The Inn at Hudson is an unusual treat from beginning to end. Hosts Dini and Windle have an eye for beautiful things, and they have painstakingly refurbished this wonderful turn-of-the-century inn to make it comfortable for guests but also a distinctly visual treat. Among their treasures and antiques in these gorgeous high-ceilinged rooms are finely crafted Victorian and Mission oak furniture, an eclectic mix of period art, and an assortment from the hosts' wonderful and wide-ranging collection of painting, sculpture, and decor. Among the best items on display are the elaborate puppets crafted by the late Caleb Fullam, who studied with Bill Baird. Dini's breakfasts are tasty and beautifully prepared, and you can easily walk into town from their doorstep to explore the shops and historical sites. Don't miss this wonderful enclave: enjoy it for what it is, a one-of-a-kind destination.

My partner and I visit friends in Hudson several times a year, and occasionally stay with them. More often, though, we book a room with Dini and Windle, who at this point feel more like friends than innkeepers. Even if we had no other reason to visit the area, we would enjoy a stay at the Inn at Hudson as a relaxing getaway. Besides feeling pampered by the truly luxurious accomodations--a bed more comfortable than our own at home, a plant-filled solarium straight out of The Addams Family, a living room/library/music room filled with intriguing curios and photographs, and truly the loveliest dining room I've ever encountered in a b&b--we've come to trust our hosts' tips on the most interesting events to catch in town. And since the Inn is only a couple blocks from Warren Street (ie Main St.), it's easy to check out whatever happens to be happening. Hudson is a surprising town, and a stay at the Inn is one of the best ways to enjoy it.
