Batterby House
Ranked #7 of 17 Hudson B&B and Inns

I stayed here for 2 nights on a getaway weekend from NYC and couldn't have asked for anything more! Paul, the innkeeper, was the consummate host. The room we stayed in was immaculate--with beautiful hardwood floors, a giant bathroom with hairdryer, soap, shampoo already stocked, comfy bed, and even a deck that was accessible through a door across from the bed. The room was charming and lovingly decorated, and had the snuggliest blanket ever, knitted by Paul's sister. A breakfast was served every morning, family style with the rest of the guests--with various choices--fruit salad, homemade quiche, fresh rolls/bread, tea, coffee, OJ, etc.

We stayed there over NYE, and that evening we found 2 wine glasses in our room. What a nice and thoughtful touch!

I read that it was a bit far from the main drag, but it's only 2 blocks from the main street, and on the end of town with the newest and best restaurants, and a very nice wine shop. However, it is true that the path to the B&B is not the nicest or best street, but it is very very close to where you want to be.

I recommend eating at Ca 'Mea, an Italian restaurant. It is said that Swoon is the best in town, but we found the food below our expectations. Ca 'Mea all the way!

This is a lovely 5-bedroom Inn two blocks from the main street in Hudson. It has been lovingly and very tastefully decorated by the owner, who is a very welcoming, friendly, charming innkeeper.

We were a group of 10 attending the wedding (at a nearby location) of the daughter a close and dear friend. For two nights we occuped the entire Inn. My original plan was to check in at the Inn then meet a group of friends from the wedding for dinner. But after a late arrival, I had to go straight to the restaurant. I called Paul, the owner, to let him know I would be checking in late, but he absolutely surprised me by bringing the keys to my room to the restaurant where we were dining! All of us were very impressed by this welcoming gesture!

All of the rooms have their own distinctive decor and their own roomy bathroom. One of the bedrooms has its own private balcony, another has a sitting room. Everything was impecably clean. Every morning you are treated to a wonderful breakfast (delicious home-made breads, quiches, fresh fruit, crossaints, etc.)

It was truly the perfect place for all of us to stay, not only because of the charm and comfort of it but it also allowed us to have cozy and private gatherings in the very nicely appointed living room and dining room.

The Inn is also a short 2-block walk to two of the best restaurants in Hudson and a many great shops and galleries. The Country Squire is a wonderful home-away-from-home. Paul is a superb host who accommodated us in every way we asked. We had a wonderful stay and we will definately return!!

The place is perfect. It use to be a parsons house. Really well done. The location is perhaps a little off the track for Hudson, but the inside makes up for it. The owner was professional and welcoming.

It felt like home. We did not feel like we usually do in a B&B where we are a problem to the owners.

Breakfast was very nice. We were only able to stay one night and we will return. Of our many stays in the area, this was the BEST value.
