We recently stayed at the Country Squire for a weekend and totally loved it. It was a delightful experience from the wonderfully decorated rooms, to the delicious breakfast and a most gracious host. Paul is a very helpful host who is filled with information about the area and will happily share it with you. The Country Squire is conveniently located close to restaurants, antique shops and the Amtrak. We will definitely recommend it to others and stay there again if we return to Hudson.

Room Tip: You will have your choice of a queen-size bed, king, or twin size. After seeing them, they are all...

We have stayed at The Country Squire several times. As a matter of fact, we have even brought friends there to experience Paul's gracious hospitality on a few occasions. The former Nunnery is beautiful and quiet. Every morning there are fresh baked goods, fresh fruit, yogurt, hot-out-of-the-oven quiche, and lots of delicious coffee and juice. It's location is ideal as well; just far enough off the beaten path to be quiet but close enough to make it easy to enjoy all that beautiful Hudson has to offer. In our minds there is no where else to stay when visiting Hudson.

We stayed at the Country Squire for a weekend getaway from NYC, and we couldn't have made a better choice! The house is beautiful and charming, and Paul was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and interesting. He gave us great recommendations on a few different things to see and do, and breakfast was delicious. The house is a very short walk to Warren Street with all its shops and restaurants.

The king room was great, and the house is extremely quiet--even with our room being right at the top of the stairs, we barely heard a peep from any other guests the whole weekend. It was the perfect place to get away from the city and recharge our batteries. We only wished we could have stayed longer, but we'll definitely come again when we return to Hudson!

While its large gravel parking lot detracts from the curb appeal, inside you'll find beautifully decorated large rooms and a charming owner. If you are visiting the stately homes along the Hudson, you'll find many books about them in the living room. One room has twin beds, something that's not always easy to find in a B&B. It's a short walk to Warren Street, where there are many restaurants.

Room Tip: One room has a nice stall shower - request this if you don't like showering in a high-sided, fre...

I recently spent a perfect night at the Country Squire B&B in Hudson, and I look forward to another visit next year, when I will be sure to allow more than one night. I discovered the place online, and actually, it's much more impressive than it looks on the website. The charming owner, Paul, has done a wonderful job of renovating the house - beautifully but simply done, with lots of nice details. I stayed in the Queen Suite, on the ground floor, and couldn't have been happier with the room. Bed was comfy, bathroom products plentiful, lots of space and light. Breakfast is served between 8 and 9 in the gorgeous dining room, and is another nice surprise. Even though it leaned more to the "continental" side, the food was beautifully presented and absolutely fresh: muffins, cake, quiche, yogurt, juice, coffee and lots of fruit - perfect! I had a lively conversation with the other guests and once they'd gone, Paul came out again from the kitchen and we had a nice chat about the house, the town and things to see. It's just a short walk to the main street (Warren), lined with restaurants, cafes, antique stores and other interesting shops. I had a nice dinner at the Red Dot, and a swell lunch at Le Gamin, a great place for coffee and baguette, among other things. All in all, a wonderful 24 hours in Hudson, and in large part because of Paul and the Country Squire.

Room Tip: All rooms looked nice, but I especially liked the Queen Suite.

We just returned from a lovely stay on 8/5 at the Country Squire. High marks for service, the room, food, nearby town, & short walk from Amtrak station (we took the train from NYC but there's also a parking lot adjacent to the B&B). We arrived to learn that the guests who'd been in our room the prior night had spilled something & the owner, Paul, met us at the front door to very apologetically offer us another room. We ended up in the room anyway (King room)...spacious, comfy bed, cute bathroom with a big tub.

We came down for breakfast the next morning on the late side but a selection of home baked breads, hot coffee, cereal, & 2 place settings were waiting. And then Paul brought in the rest - yoghurt & fresh fruit, OJ, quiche - & stayed to chat with us for a while.

Bonus: 2 blocks away is the town of Hudson which is cute & peaceful, & seems to be undiscovered...for now. Tons of antique shops (not really my thing), but restaurants (dinner at Red Dot was great), shops, beautiful architecture, pretty park in the center. Feels like an old New England town. The town seems to be undergoing a revival so some buildings are under construction but it's truly lovely.

We stayed at the Country Squire in late June, 2013 for a wedding in Hudson. What a great experience. I normally am not a big fan of B&B's in general (prefer to rent an apt.), but Paul was a great host and made the experience pure pleasure. Our room was great. We had the Queen room. The country breakfast was wonderful every morning. He even made us a care package to take with us on our early driving departure. I am hooked on this B&B! Thanks Paul! :)
