Spent two nights in this quaint town and the croff house was the perfect place to stay since its so close to the amtrak and everything in town was within walking distance.

Thanks for the 5-Star review. The inn truly is a great "home base" to everything Hudson has to offer and we're glad we could make your weekend special. We look forward to seeing you both again soon.

I grew up in Hudson, and was visiting my parents for the Christmas holiday with my husband and adult twin daughters. When their house was committed to overflowing, I volunteered to find a B&B for us. The Croff House was an incredible surprise; small town charm with big city amenities and a delicious multi-course breakfast. Our hosts were charming, considerate and informative. Their care in restoring and outfitting this old mansion was so impressive, we plan on ordering the mattress and sheets we enjoyed in our room. The best B&B we've ever enjoyed.

It was wonderful having you and the family here during the holidays. K&S are lovely young ladies and are so polite. We were lucky that we could have the pleasure of your company since your relatives had a full house. Thanks so much for the fantastic review and for taking them time to share your experience at The Croff House. Wishing you a healthy and happy New Year, we look forward to having you back for another visit in 2010. Until then, best regards to everyone.

The Croff House is a hidden gem in Hudson, NY.
My partner and I wanted to get away from Manhattan for the weekend which happened to coincide with the town's annual Winter Walk. We were utterly delighted to be welcomed in total charm and elegance. The owners Russ and Duncan have created a home away from home with the refinements and attention to detail found in five star hotels - yet so down to earth and incredibly comfortable. Their magical linens, top notch bathrooms, delicious breakfasts, two cozy fireplaces (which were so appreciated on this snowy weekend)...so many superlatives.
A salute to Russ and Duncan who were so gracious and made us feel as if we were the only guests there. We cannot wait to return.

Your wish to experience Christmas in a small town couldn't have been planned better! What a fun weekend having you join Hudson in kicking off the holiday season with all the festivities. We'd love to take credit for the snow but our attention to detail does have certain limitations. We're so happy that you had such a fantastic time and look forward to your return visit soon. Until then - best wishes for a continued wonderful holiday season!

This is a lovely place to stay for a romantic get away. The B & B staff was amazing- lot's of helpful information and service. They offered to help us with dinner reservations and helped another couple get to and from the train station which is close by. The breakfast was 3 courses including homemade banana bread, melon with a homemade mint syrup and a very tasty baked french toast with apples and cinnamon whipped cream. Another couple bought a set of sheets to take home because they were so comfortable to sleep in. Really great place overall just blocks from interesting shops and beautiful architecture.

This quaint victorian home has the best of everything for travelers. Russ met us at our car and brought in our suitcase. We were shown around the house and made to feel right at home. There are several public areas where we could relax. We were shown how to contact Russ or Duncan at any time day or night. The refreshments offered to us were wonderful. I particularly like one kind of tea and Russ had it prepared in no time. We felt well informed on the restaurants, shops and luckily the tea factory that made my favorite tea was close. This was a retirement get away from our son & his wife, and we really had a chance to relax. The room was very comfortable and decorated beautifully. That shower with the five heads was fantastic. We loved the small stained glass window in one small section of the shower .The breakfasts were three course affairs that are second to none as far as we are concerned. We hope to return again and bring friends. Thanks so much Russ, we hope to meet Duncan when we come the next time. Top Notch all the way.

What a pleasure it was having you two stay with us and thanks for such a fantastic review. We're glad you had the opportunity to not only relax but to see the area as well. We're so glad your trip to Harney and Sons was a success and are so pleased you were able to get a personalized tour of the facilities.

We like to give our guests' their space to make themselves at home and enjoy the inn to the fullest. At the same time we want them to know that we are always available whether we're in the owner's quarters downstairs or shopping at the grocery store.

We look forward to welcoming you and your friends back soon! Until then we wish you all the best this holiday season and health and happiness in the New Year.

We have stayed at a variety of B&Bs over the past few years, but The Croff House has climbed to the top of our list. After our two night stay, we definitely consider this place to be our absolute favorite.

The house itself has been very well restored. The furnishings are all new. While they are not antiques, they feel very cozy and comfortable. The living room just feels like home.

We stayed in the Chace Suite. We thought that this was the best suite because it faces the street. The other suites face the back, etc. As with most B&Bs, the rooms are a little smaller in real life than on camera, but other than that, the room is as depicted. In addition to two easy chairs, there is a full closet with mirror and a digital, flat-panel TV with DirecTV and AppleTV, and free wireless internet. There are many movie channels. There is also a clock radio with a dock for your iPod, which is great! One downside to having so many digital devices, it seems, is a lack of available electrical outlets, but that’s understandable.

The bed is a pillow-top, which is very soft, and we found it quite comfortable. Bed linens were excellent. A turn-down service is provided nightly. Heat is by radiator, which was silent, and the gas fireplace puts out plenty of heat. I couldn’t tell if air conditioning is available. The room faces Willard Place, which is a small cul-de-sac. There is a slight traffic hum from the nearby streets, and a train horn sounds in the far distance during the night, but it didn’t bother us. If you are a daytime napper, there is a little noise in the hallway during busy times (like a Friday when everybody arrives at once), but nothing extraordinary. Overall, sleep was quite refreshing.

The bathroom is delightful. All of the fixtures are very new and very modern. A claw-foot tub has a telephone-style shower head. The spa shower is not to be missed. It’s huge, it’s got full-body jets, and there’s plenty of hot water to go around. I had to take about five minutes to figure out its operation, but it was worth the trouble. In terms of toiletries, they go all out; you could probably get away without bringing anything at all. But if you like a body bar, bring your own – they provide liquid body wash (good stuff, though). Bathroom linens were pleasant, including his-and-her robes.

Hudson offers some great restaurants, and you can walk there from the hotel. Although a little pricey, the food was outstanding. Ca’Mea was our favorite; be sure to have the hotel book your table for a 10% discount. Our total check came to about $85 for two, including all. One convenience – none of the restaurants require formal wear. All of the patrons were dressed comfortably.

Breakfast at The Croff House was outstanding – try the pumpkin muffins if you can. The local paper isn’t much to read. Checkout was cordial and we thought it was an excellent value.

If you want to try a bed-and-breakfast, check out this place. And Russ and Duncan, if you’re reading, you can rest assured that we’ll be back!
