This was our third time staying at the Howes Caverns Motel. In general, if not for difficulty
with the in-room air conditioning and the attitude of the motel manager concerning same our stay would have been almost perfect. The dinning room and service that used to be there has been replaced by a cafeteria style service, the food is very good and the staff very nice and accomadating, the one draw back is the cafe closes early and you have to go elsewhere to get real dinner meal. The area is beautifull and fantastic scenery to see from you room. It is a great place for kids, with a swing set and picnic tables on a open
lawn to play on. There are also cows on the property in a near-by field that is just down the hill from the motel.
We were disapointed with the lack of any on-site dinner service, but there was a refrigerator & microwave in the room. And the drive to Cobelskill where there are several
placeses to eat is only a about 15 min. away.
Have your camera with you when you go. In addition to the Caverns, there are many
historic sites in the area.
If your looking for an exiting place to go - this is NOT it! If your looking for someplace
low-key, relaxing and kid friendly - this IS a GOOD choice.More
