“Atmosphere and Food”

The live music often enters the restaurant. The back of the restaurant's outdoor with tables and hammock and the indoor part's communal table all provide a great setting. The dishes from Oaxaca are rich and varied. To get the full experience, go with a group and get one of the larger plates to share and experience tastes that are distinctive to the region.

“Very tasty, pure mexican”
Reviewed April 12, 2013

This is one of my favorite places in Queretaro. Very informal environment, very Mexican, very affordable. If you would like to try the real Mexican food, and you are brave, this is a good place. Beware, this is not a place for sensitive gastritis stomachs, you will find nothing here for you. Try the best mole (sauce made with diverse hot peppers mixed with nuts and chocolate) with pork and chicken, also the black beans, fresh cheese -quesillo- in tomato sauce. Enjoy the mezcal (similar to tequila), and the fruit mixes with mezcal are very good in this place. If you go on a weekend or when the place is crowded, you have to be prepared to be VERY pacient.

“Great Selection, but Needs more Flavour”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

Friends took us to this restaurant when we were visiting Querétaro. The place is great and the ambiance is fantastic. It all looks very traditional and very Mexican indeed. We were a large group and although the place was not particularly busy, the staff struggled a little keeping up with our order.
The menu is great and there are so many choices that it can be a little overwhelming. They have a section with suggestions for vegetarians, but they only mention the dish, so you still have to go through the whole menu to find the dish and see what it contains.
The food was good, but I can't say it was wonderful - to the point that I can't even remember what I ordered.
I would recommend this place to go and have drinks with friends and something to snack on, the ambiance is great for that.

“Oaxaca in Queretaro - worth a visit!”
Reviewed March 22, 2013

Even if you only go to drink something (mezcal) you can spend a great time in here! I think reservation is not possible (I'm not really sure of that!) but if it's possible DO IT (!!) OTHERWISE you have to wait 15+ minutes. But anyway, even if we waited so much we came back the day after because we liked it a lot! The staff are really funny and friendly, live groups play traditional music randomly every night (not all night).
On the menu you will find traditional oaxaca dishes (chapulines = grasshopper, tlayudas, etc.) give it a try but order moderate, it's not everyone's taste ;-)
There are two locations of 'Maria y su bici' on the same street, this review is from the restaurant - not sure if the small one is only a bar. Great mexican (oaxaca) decoration rustic style furniture (and special seats for special occasions).
From night to night you will see "Señora María" in there, to assure that everything works well.
Expect to spend more than in regular restaurants in Queretaro, but I would say it is for one (or two) nights definitely worth it.

“Oaxaca in Queretaro”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

The food was great, the service incredible, not cheap but not expensive...only a little bit more pricey than a midrange restaurant in Oaxaca itself.
