Whenever I visit Queretaro, I stay at the Mirabel. It's modern, clean, quiet, reasonably priced for what you get, and I've never had a negative experience there. I give it four stars instead of five simply because I save 5 stars for some spectacular. The Mirabel is not spectacular, but it sure is a nice place to stay. Perhaps more than anything, I like it because it's never noisy, and so many hotels in Mexico are noisy.

Having said that, I always request a room that does NOT abut the very busy streets outside, streets plural because it's on a major intersection. But if you get an inside room, you never hear any street noise at all. The beds are comfy. The bathroom is modern and more than adequate. Great hotel.

Room Tip: Get a room that does not abut the busy streets outside. Inside rooms are totally quiet.

The Hotel Mirabel is located on Constituyentes 2 Oriente and Corregidora, across the street from a large, shady park. The historical section of the city is only a ten-minute walk away. My room had a king-sized bed which overlooked a soccer field, and was very quiet, something important to a light sleeper like me. The most important thing to me was that it was very clean. The staff were very polite and helpful, and there was always someone at the desk who spoke English. A breakfast buffet is available which has a large selection from which to choose, both Mexican and international. A menu selection is also available. My reasons for not giving the Mirabel a 5-star is that the location is not "central"--one has to cross a very busy street and walk a vew blocks to get to the center, which is probably not a problem for most people (including me); and I personally thought the pillows were too big and hard. Perhaps I am being too fussy; I would not argue with anyone who gives the Mirabel 5 stars. The rates are very reasonable, and about half the price of the boutique hotels in the center. I suggest taking this into account, considering how little time you will spend in your room. Queretaro is a gem of a city, off the beaten tourist path, and definitely worth visiting.

Room Tip: As the hotel is located on a busy traffic corner, ask for a room that doesn't face the streets.

I stayed here for 9 nights while at a convention. It's comfortable and a fairly good location close to the town centre and the park. It's an easy walk into the historic centre for restaurants and shopping and so on. The staff were OK (and spoke English) and the bar has a good selection of tequila.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back a quieter and have a view over the sports field

This was my first visit to the historical city of Querétaro. I was an invited guest of the Mexican Poster Biennial. The guests were put up in this hotel for 4 nights. It is in easy walking distance to the cultural center, and a 15-minute straight walk to the conference center, and a 5-10 minute walk to the historic center. A large, lovely park is across the street.

The rooms were a medium size with king-size beds (I was a single). My view faced the back of the hotel which had a soccer field. On Friday, November 2 (Day of Dead), the field was transformed into a full concert stage (workers worked all night to build the stage, and the following night after the rock concert, to break it down). Needless to say I had could both see (from my window) and hear the concert, which did not break up until 2:00 a.m. It was a holiday, what can you do? My friends who had rooms in the front of the hotel did not hear the music if their windows were closed. I would still recommend the back of the hotel as there is a busy intersection in the front of the hotel.

All our meals (breakfast and lunch) were taken at the hotel. Breakfast was an excellent buffet of all foods a Mexican would eat for breakfast, plus what a European would eat for breakfast. Service was excellent and professional. Lunch, served from 2:00-4:00 p.m. was a 4-course meal (this is the largest meal of the day), starting with a small creative salad of some kind (chicken salad, avocado salad, etc. Then there was soup (all good), then the entree (fish, chicken or veggie), then dessert. Prices were quite reasonable for the quality of the food.

The staff spoke mostly Spanish, but there was always a staff person available who spoke English. There were 3 computers in the lobby for guests to use. I would absolutely stay there again!

Room Tip: ask for a room in the back of the hotel, not facing the street, where I could imagine the traffic no...

This is a nice place to stay - very clean, comfortable, close to city center. The location isn't too exciting, but it is convenient. The staff is nice, helpful, and many people speak English as well as Spanish.

Rooms are somewhat small, and beds are full-size, rather than typical queen. Linens and towels are of cheap quality, but crisp, new and clean.

Restaurant serves good food, front desk is staffed all night, and there is a garage in the building. The Internet works, TV has programming in English as well as Spanish.

Overall, it's a nice hotel - but not spectacular.

This 4 star business hotel is very reasonably priced and is only a 10 minute walk from the centro historico. I stayed here for 3 nights and was extremely satisfied with the price and service. I was able to save quite a bit of money by booking directly through the hotel. Its web address is: http://www.hotelmirabel.com.mx/
