“Fantastic small boutique hotel!”
Reviewed March 3, 2012

We arrived on 2/23/12 for a six night stay while attending a conference at the hotel. While the hotel is smaller than most we use for this annual conference, it was great because we took over the hotel! Breakfast on the patio and our meetings and parties in the garden! We had 32 attending our conference and I do not think there was one complaint. While there is no restaurant onsite, within steps from the front door are anything from tacos to very fine dining. Our first night Eduardo recommended Harry's Louisiana Cafe. I had already read about it on tripadvisor and wanted to go there. It was 4 blocks, easy walk and I ate there 3 nights of the six we were in Queretaro! Food was divine. One night Franco (Eduardo's brother) made us a reservation and when we arrived we were treated like royalty. The hotel is a family operation, you feel like they are your family. Nicer people you would not meet. Mother is from Iowa, sons raised in Queretaro and speak English. Our room was cleaned daily. Plenty of hot water, we were downstairs and then moved to 2nd floor so an older couple could have our room. It was quieter upstairs, but I don't think there is a bad room at all there. A couple had larger spaces and one on the patio. Loved it and would go back tomorrow! If you stay, tell them hello from LindaS from San Carlos!

Room Tip: 2nd floor more quiet. Rooms #17 and #11 are larger and 11 has a slder to the patio.

We picked out this great place based on its top review rankings on several travel websites. Even though we had very high expectations of our stay here, we were still amazed by the charming environment of the hotel and the friendly and welcoming staff.
I was to propose to my girlfriend the weekend we stayed there, and the staff of the hotel made it in unforgettable experience. Sure thing, were coming back!

Room Tip: While the queen room offers a great stay, the King room suite offers a more romantic experience

I stumbled upon this oasis in this magnificent colonial town of Queretaro. I was taken by the garden that is surrounded by rooms. This boutique hotel is new and is owned and run by two brothers, Franco and Eduardo, who grew up here. Their mother is from Iowa, thus they speak perfect English and are most helpful in answering any questions.

The price is around $89 depending on the room. It is a very peaceful place to stay in a sometimes hectic city, yet you are only minutes from the gorgeous center with its museums and historic colonial architecture.

My favorite aspect is the marvelous breakfasts on the patio surrounded by the sounds of birds and bouganvilla.

I chose freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee, cereal, papaya, and hotcakes with honey, marmalade, and lechera, a sweet condiment.

This is the only place that I would stay in Queretaro even if I could afford a five star hotel, this is ranked with four stars, and even if I were traveling on a budget, I would splurge here.

An old family home with a heritage listing had been lovingly restored, and extended by local artisans. This boutique hotel is located in the historic centre of Queretaro,5-10 mi nutes walk from the Plazas where all the action is, but very quiet- except for the church bells and occasional fireworks. There are stores of all sorts and food at all levels nearby.
There is a a tranquil semi-tropical garden with fruit trees. The ground floor is wheel-chair friendly. It is an oasis in bustling Mexico. Oh, and apparently it has ghosts, but they are quite benign.
All the rooms have new bathrooms, and original artwork. There is a coffee maker and supplies in the room. The beds were very comfortable. The master suite, up a winding iron staircase, is large with a king bed and antique furniture. There are two ‘Junior suites’, bed-sitters which will soon have basic cooking facilities. .
Breakfast is included. It is taken in the gazebo, with fresh fruit, a choice of cereals, pastries, freshly squeezed juice and coffee, available till 11. They supply drinking water daily and on request. There is free internet access. The families we saw there seemed most comfortable. The owner, Eduardo, is bi-lingual, much-travelled, and has worked at a high level for international hotels. His dream was to create something, ‘beautiful, affordable and clean’ in his home city, and he has done it superbly. He has great plans for more improvements. It is not an international chain experience, more your dream of old Mexico come alive, with modern comforts.
The staff are friendly, honest and most helpful. Everything is spotless. Linen is good and changed daily. We had some dietary needs and they were happy to let us use their fridge and wash food. They quickly learned our preferences and would appear with them. When one of us was sick they were most solicitous. They don’t speak English but were eager to understand our few words of Spanish.

Eduardo is still negotiating for extra power to operate the air conditioning- in the meantime there are fans and heaters available. Mini-bars are still to come. He plans two more hotels, one high-end and one budget, with the same values.
My advice is to get there now before the prices inevitably rise. We stayed 9 nights and never wanted to leave, though it was a great base to enjoy the amazing street life of central Queretaro.

The hotel is in the heart of this historic city and is located on a busy, noisy street. But, once inside, it is very quiet and peaceful. The room was attractive and clean. The breakfast, served in the garden, was delicious with freshly squeezed orange juice and fresh fruit. The staff was friendly. I will stay here again and will recommend it to my friends.
