“Planned to stay for 1 day and stayed for 8!”
Reviewed December 30, 2010

Kapishya Hot Springs is a magical place. The warm bubbling clear waters of the springs surrounded by lush gardens makes for a tropical paradise. We only planned to stop by the springs and camp for a night on our way through to Lusaka. Instead, we couldn't bring ourselves to leave and stayed for 8 nights.
During our stay we also hired kayaks and paddled down the river to the waterfalls, and rode mountain bikes to visit Shiwa House. We spent lots of time walking and seeing local villages and hills.
Every evening we had a delicious meal with lots of the food grown in the gardens.
All the staff were great and the owners Mark and Mell made us feel very welcome and are fantastic hosts.

“An absolute must on any trip to Zambia!!”
Reviewed October 8, 2010

I could not praise Kapishya enough. I have just driven from London, en route to Cape Town and can easily say this is one of the nicest places we could have wished to stay at. The hosts, Mark and Mel are delightful. Informative, witty and Mel's cooking is simply sublime. There are options to camp at an excellent spacious and secluded campsite or you can take one of the several self contained lodges as we did. The attention to detail is superb and the breakfast was a fantastic spread.

And the real gem? The serene hot spring right on the door step. A fantastic place to wind down (or wind up in the morning!) after exploring the scenic surroundings, including the famous Shiwa House and North Luangwa National Park.

We intended on spending just one night there but ended up spending several (and could have spent many more). It's excellent value for money too so there's no reason not to extend a visit!

A lovely place run by a lovely couple.

“Greatest Place on Earth!”
Reviewed April 12, 2009

The owners, Mark & Mel, were the greatest. Great hostesses, great stories and friendship. The hot springs were amazing! 102degrees, sitting in white white sand with a glass of wine...doesn't get any better than that. Percy, their pet Impala, is also a plus. and not to mention the river boat trip down the stream ending up at our chalet. Mel's cooking is absolutely gourmet. Grows all her own vegetables and herbs. Fantastic. Accommodations outstanding. You are missing a great place if you pass this one by. We hope to return as soon and as often as possible.

“Best hot springs I have ever been to.”
Reviewed March 28, 2009

Two couples spend two nights of a 25 day self drive safari arranged by Safari Drive. Mark and Mel the owner operators made us feel at home. They were extremely helpful and answered our many questions. Mark is a great story teller and Mel in a great cook. Each couple stayed in separate family cottages, with full bath. It was a short walk to the dinning area where we had our meals. Mark and Mel joined us for most meals.
Marks many stories and local insights were the highlight of our stay. The cottages had a double and single bed down stairs and a large double bed and sitting area in a loft up stairs. Construction with local logs and thatch roof give the cottages an Africa feel that was quite romantic. Each has it's own private deck with out door fire area and over looks the Manshya river. Very beautiful.
The hot spring are the best I have been to. To quote from our Safari Drive Itinerary Kapyishya Hot Springs "is an exquisite natural hot springs surrounded by lush tropical vegetation and tall raffia palms. The hot water bubbles out from the white sands of a crystal clear pool and flows into the Manshya River." I would add there is no sulfur smell, very low mineral content, so no noticeable salts on your skin and it has a perfect hot tub temperature and depth. Life doesn't get much better.
Mark suggested a number of hikes and activities. We opted for a hike up river and a leisurely raft trip down. Very beautiful and I was excited to see an otter on our way down.
The other big attraction in the area is Shiwa N'Gandu. Look it up. It is a whole other story.
Dog lovers will enjoy Mark's five dogs and adopted orphaned impala that thinks its a dog. They were well behaved and left us alone but they were around.
