“Jason and Kayla made all the difference”

We traveled to several camps in Zambia and Namibia and this one stood out way above all of the others. The camp itself is very simple but nice but the people were amazing. Jason and Kayla worked hard to insure that everything was perfect. The guides, Sebastian and James, were the best guides we used in all of our trips to Africa. Kayla insured that the food was amazing every night. Both entertained us with stories about the animals, in particular the honey badgers.
The highlight was the canoe trip down the canals. Seeing the birds and game eye to eye was unbelievable. Also, I enjoyed the fact that you had to check for elephants before walking to the main area. If you saw one, no problem, just call on the walki talki for a guide to escort you. I highly recommend this camp. We had a wonderful time!

Room Tip: Rooms along the Zambezi river have the best views.

we spend one week at old Mondorow. The location is superb, so many éléphants that you can't count them. The landscape is fantastic, very few tourist. You have at the same time the wilderness of a bush camp and all the confort and the luxury you need. The welcoming of Kayla and Jason made also the difference. we also have to say that for the "gourmet" , the food is absolutly delicious.
The guides are also well-read and the staff thoughtful. we dream to come back soon !!. Marc and Catherine

Old Mondoro is what a bush camp should be like! It's small, simple, very comfortable with an exquisite setting on the banks of the might Zambezi. The managers, staff and guides are top notch and food is delicious. The Zambezi adds a whole new dimension to the safari with canoeing among the hippos and elephant and tiger fishing on the river. This makes a nice change from the usual game drive. Walking through the riverine forest is a great experience.
This was our favorite camp! Thanks Jason and Michaela!!

Room Tip: We had the room furthest from the dining area - great mid-day game viewing from the porch overlookin...

Just returned from Zambia and Namibia - the highlight of the trip was the 3 days at Old Mondoro. It's perfectly situated on the Zambezi with elephants frequently in the camp (sometimes hippos)! The options for seeing wildlife are game drives, walking safaris, canoe safaris, etc. I highly recommend canoeing on the Zambezi. It's a small camp and the management, staff and guides are exceptional and very knowledgeable! Thanks to Kayla, Jas, Sebastian, James and the rest of the staff at Old Mondoro for an unforgettable experience! I would go back in a heartbeat!!

Room Tip: 1, 2 and 3 overlook the Zambezi and 4 overlooks the lagoon...have are excellent views!!

No doubt, Old Mondoro is the highlight of every safari. I have been there already three times and can't wait to return. Everything is just super: the delicious food, the wildlife just around the tent, the attentive management and the charming huts, making you feel right in the middle of the bush without the lack of luxury. It never feels overcrowded and one is not crammed into the vehicle at game-drives with other guests at maximum capacity which happens at many other lodges. It is simply the best of the best.

Room Tip: I prefer the rooms overlooking the Zambezi

Friends and I visited 5 safari camps in Zambia and Namibia and this was, by far, our favorite camp. All the camps we visited were great, each in their own way, but Old Mondoro was exceptional due to the hosts Kayla and Jas, the guides Sebastian and James, the variety of activities (I highly recommend the canoe trip), the food, and the staff. The rooms are somewhat rustic but that didn't take away anything from the experience. The area is beautiful with lots of animals and birds to see. We loved it!

Room Tip: Initially I wasn't too happy with Room 4 since it was not on the river and away from the other 3...

I run the Safari Guides Company and I am fortunate enough to visit many fantastic areas in Africa. I must say, Wholeheartedly, that my time on the Zambezi at Old Mondoro was first class and perfectly balanced. The guides are top drawer and as self assured and knowledgable as I have seen anywhere in Africa. The food is great :) and the hosts/managers are constantly working on giving the best experience possible. Add that to unspoiled wildlife and top tiger fishing and you have the destination of choice.

Kindest regards, I will be seeing you soon.
