Since the quite recent renovations and upgrading of Baines River Lodge this has to be one of the Lower Zambezi's quiet achievers. In a discrete and unpretentious setting the lodge exudes understated quality and elegance. The whole experience is hard to beat even for the experienced safari enthusiast or avid fisherman. Management and staff work tirelessly to meet and exceed every expectation but for the inexperienced the experience is likely to be one never to be forgotten. Food is of very good quality, well balanced and well delivered by Jane who shares a passion for what she does in the kitchens. Debbie, Jane and Scott are all locally experienced with a well rounded knowledge of nature, fauna and flora and the great variety of large animals which only Africa provides and the experienced safari and boat guides share the same enthusiasm, knowledge and passion. The fishing and game drives combine to make the experience very memorble and the canoeing adds a quiet serenity to the activities on offer. If an African born and bred guest can feel such enthusiasm over such a great holiday then Baines River Camp is the equivalent of 'The Jewel on The Nile'. We will be back at Baines in 2013 - maybe not once but twice!
