I really can't say enough about this lodge. The people were incredibly helpful and friendly, the accommodations were amazing, the game drives and other activities were spectacular, and the food was 5 star. I'd go back to this lodge in a heartbeat and hope I have the opportunity to again one day.
The only thing that was a struggle at times was the lack of wifi and cell service. There is wifi service, but only in the main lodge and it rarely worked. It is a small sacrifice in the big picture, but It was difficult for me to communicate with my kids who were back at home in the States, and that added an element of stress that I wish had not been part of my stay. I would not change my 5 star review regardless, I just want to prepare others for this issue.

We flew from Stanley to the lodge on board the property's private air plane ( one of three available). We landed on a private air strip and were immediately met by staff who took our luggage and brought us to the lodge in a Land Rover. WOW! What an amazing start. We were greeted by the staff from the lodge, shown around the main lodge and shown to our :tent" which is a beautiful accommodation with king size bed and large private bathroom. Did I mention that it comes with your own secluded deck that sits on the Zambezi River where you can watch the elephants and hippos outside your "tent". Day and afternoon game drives, meals on the terrace overlooking the river, sunset cruises - they are all here to be thrilled by. It's mind boggling.

We have vacationed in Royal Zambezi Lodge regularly this past 8 years. 16 times to date. We love the setting, the layout, the exquisite chalets and the ambiance. The staff are so friendly and always cheerful. Food is delicious and plentiful. The famous tree that supports the bar on deck is incomparable to any others. Game-viewing and fishing are tailor made to suit your requests. Christmas had a full camp, yet we chose our activities without any concessions to other clients. It was a unique and very enjoyable experience.

The place is just amazing. We took the boat from Chirundu, instead of flying, and it was one amazing experience. Best part is that my partner managed to get a grip of his fear of water.
You wake up to beautiful African sunrise. One has to experience it. You have 2 daily activities that you select every morning and evening. We learnt to fish and we were so excited. Managed to catch some fish too.
The safaris are amazing. Managed to see most of the animals in the Lower Zambezi National Park (African Wild Dogs,African civet, Elephants, Lions, Buffalo, Hippos, Zebra, Crocodile and different Antelopes, Monkeys and Birds).
The staff are very good, readily available and have a lot of knowledge of their environment. It was a lovely holiday. Definitely going back.

Room tip: All the rooms are just amazing, as they all face the river..

This was a beautiful lodge that offered wonderful safari day/evening trips. Good staff and extra security due to animals on site. The food was good but I didn't care for their version of brunch. The rooms were very nice and they provided hot water bottles at the end of the evening for warmth or sore muscles. Nice to just sit and watch birds by the riverside.
