My sister and I booked a 4 day safari with Norman Carr. Two days at Kakuli and 2 at Mchenja.
Our first 2 days were spent at Kakuli. This was our first safari despite having grown up in Zambia and what an experience it was! We had a great welcome from Aubrey and his staff at the airport and then had a fantastic transfer/game drive to the camp in a new Land Rover which was very comfortable. On arrival at Kakuli we were met with very welcome cold flannels and cocktails by Sam and his staff. Sam was very welcoming and informative and gave us a tour of the camp and a very good briefing on safety and day to day activities.
Our accommodation was superb and the facilities in the camp were unbelievable and what a location! The food throughout our stay can only be described as first class in quality and presentation. How they achieve this in the middle of the bush is credit to them.
Special mention must go to Wallia, our guide on both walks and drives whilst at Kakuli camp. He is very knowledgeable and obviously cares very much about the environment and the animals.
Phillamon, our guide on a number of occasions, spoke eloquently of the history and development of Zambia at dinner time as well as being a very professional and informative guide to the animals on our walks.
Simon, the camp manager at Mchenja, had an amazing encyclopaedic knowledge of every creature we came across and enjoyed getting us very close to the action!
Preya was a fantastic host and had a lovely friendly manner, putting everyone at ease and making everyone very welcome. She clearly loves her job and is a credit to the company.
If you are going on safari in Zambia you won't do better than Norman Carr Safaris, we saw every animal on our list, including 3 leopards and a pride of 18 lions feeding.
Full marks from start to finish. We will be back!
