I am lucky enough to have been to some great places....Kaingu is up there with the best.

Venue is truly stunning. The eating area over the edge of the Kafue is lovely. The food is uniformly very very good. The staff or great, helpful considerate. Fishing guides were also excellent - had excellent fishing even though in Winter. No phones but there is wifi.

All done as ecologically well as is possible. Kafue park is very big, next time will get into there more. Saw two prides of lions as we left. Rods not bad - by Zambian standards anyway.

Kafue National Park is without any doubt one of the most beautiful places in the world.
After several days in the more northern section of the park my wife and I drove to Kaingu Camp for a two night stay from June 24th - 26th.

After all the beautiful landscapes you've already seen you reach the meeting place for the boat and can not believe what you see - paradise must be like that. This part of the Kafue river is of breathtaking beauty.

From this moment you feel that the stay will be wonderful and immediately upon arrival in the camp you know that you are right. Not only the landscape but also the camp is wonderful.

We felt very welcome from the first moment when we arrived at the boat launch.

The outstanding tents are in classic safari style with zipper doors and have an indoor bathroom as well as an outdoor shower. The beds are large and comfortable. Electricity and hot water in the tent was available all day long.

The food was always very good. Early breakfast started at 06.00 am with toast, cereals and porridge as a starter for the morning game drive. At noon the lunch was served buffet style with hot/cold main courses, salads/vegetables, fresh bread. Dinner was served at the plate on the platform at the river with starters and something sweet for desert. On the day we left Kaingu our breakfest was served on a island in the stream - unforgettable.

Our special thanks goes to Julia & Gil for taking so much care on us and to Prosper for his good and friendly way to serve us and last but not least to our fantastic guide Isaac - thanks again for the lions and the hippos you spot for us during our fantastic game drive.

Dear R & P,
firstly congratulations on the result last night in the WM final!!! Deutschland! Julia is still dancing...

Thank you both for the wonderful review. We really enjoyed having you both here and I really enjoyed that first boat cruise where we just took time to watch the hippos from up close.

I have passed on your regards to Isaac and we do hope that the summer by the rhine is nice and that we see you both back here one day! All our regards and thanks for taking the time to review us on trip advisor.

On arrival at Kaingu, you are met at the airstrip and driven to the Kafue river. It is quite a long way but the road is good. On arrival at the river, everything about the road journey is forgotten. The setting is magical. You are then taken across the river to the lodge, which is positioned very close to the river. The staff are wonderful, and the food is very good and varied. Because of its riverside location, there are a variety of activities apart from game drives, including walks and trips on the river (including fishing). Sundowners and breakfasts in surprise locations add to the magic of this place. Gil, Julia, Rick and Lyn and their great staff (especially Esmart) are to be congratulated for their efforts in making this a truly great place to visit.

We stayed at Kaingu Lodge for two wonderful nights. Gil & Julia were the perfect hosts & Kayle was a fantastic guide both on the evening river cruise and the game drive. Kaingu Lodge is a "must visit" for those who want that added touch of luxury.

We arrived for one night and had such a beautiful river cruise and sundowners, totally fell in love with the setting, lodge and staff, that we changed our plans to stay another 4 nights ! The rooms and campsites are set along the river in a truly beautiful way and it feels very intimate and very secluded. It really is all about the wonderful team here, and they could not do more for you. The setting reminds you of the old Africa! We defiantly recommend any one travelling to the Kafue include Kaingu in their travel plans!

Room Tip: Any of the rooms are stunning!

We recently spent three nights at Kaingu, our first stop in Zambia. It provided exactly what we were hoping for: somewhere peaceful where we could relax after the long haul flight. The Kafue here is uniquely beautiful with dramatic boulders and islands which can be explored and admired at closer quarters on one of the boat trips organised by the lodge. The staff/owners, Rick, Linda, Gil and Julia make an excellent team where guests feel immediately welcome and at home. They cared about our enjoyment of our holiday and we enjoyed their company. Accommodation and food were splendid and we carried away with us a recipe for the best starter of our entire trip (and that included three other top notch lodges!)

The team Gil, Julia, Lynda and Rick welcomed us for a night this weekend. Gil picked us up at the car park on the spinal road only 3.5/4 hours from Lusaka. From there a short ferry ride to the lodge enabled us to drop off our bags and immediately head out again for a sundowner boat cruise. Spotting great bird life as well as crocs and hippos along the way, we moored up on a big rock in the middle of the river where Julia had already poured us perfect G&Ts and was busy warming our snacks by the fire. The sunset was spectacular. A really yummy and vegetarian friendly three course dinner on the deck over the Kafue river was followed by drinks around the fire, during which Julia pointed out a bushbaby sitting directly above all of us! Luxurious tents, with steaming hot showers and outside baths meant we all slept like logs, luckily as we arose early! A 6am start meant that we could enjoy a sunrise walk to a nearby inselberg again with great bird watch and a steaming cup of coffee at the top!

Close enough to Lusaka for an overnight, immediate relaxing escape.... A real hidden gem!
