Very comfortable hotel, the staff were extremely helpful and the food was acceptable. However don't go there at this time of year as seeing so many dead seal pups washed up on the beach was very sad. They also do a cull in the middle of March and again in July so would suggest you avoid these times of year as well, but definitely worth a visit and there is also camping available

We stayed here one night at the start of our Namibian Trip. Had a lovely room on the second floor overlooking the sea. Went for a walk on the beach to see the Seals and the odd Jackal then back for drinks and dinner. Food and service was great and the bar had a lovely log fire to warm the night. We discussed our next day travel plans with Bernd (the lodge General Manager) and he was most helpful.
This places seems at the "end of the earth" and in our case as the only guests that night it lived up to that.
Its 5 minutes drive to the Cape Cross Seal colony which we visited the next morning. Again we were the only visitors.
I would recomend Cape Cross Lodge for an overnight stay or an extra day if you just want to enjoy the isolation.

Room tip: Get a room on the second floor facing the Sea if they are available

We stayed at Cape Cross Lodge in early February. They had just finished a remodel, and let us stay the night before the "official" re-opening. We were charmed to be the only guests and still receive first-class service. The rooms were clean and right on the beach, the food was good, and the service was exceptional, especially from the office manager, Life. Although the hotel's amenities would not normally pull a five star rating, the experience overall could not be rated less, especially given the stark environment in which it is situated.

Room tip: Second floor rooms facing the surf are excellent and have private balconies

Another stop on the ride around Namibia was on Skeleton coast near seal colony. Place is called Cape Cross. Even weather was windy and cold (some 5 celsium degrees) my friends decided on staying at camp sites in tents. I was tried the room in the lodge. I got clean and nice room with view at the beach, but without any kind of heating (heating pad is needed). In the room you can use kettle. Food was absolutely perfect especially kudu steak was the best one in Namibia. You can have any kind of steaks, soups, vegetables, pastas. Cake, tea or coffee is "free for use" during the day for accommodated people (but not for people at camp sites). Lodge provided trips to wrecked ships and to the desert. Plus is free Wi-Fi connection at reception. Separated clean camp sites has bathroom, wc, shower with hot water everything is prepared for easy use.

What a fabulous place to stay. It was clean and beautiful. We had a wonderful room where even with the multiple glazing, one could hear the pounding of the surf. Sitting on the balcony, watching the setting sun was amazing. The meal in the evening was delicious as was breakfast. It was all made even better by the visit of 3, black backed jackals that came in the morning to drink water and to frolic on the sand.
This was heaven at the back of beyond and I'd love to go again.
