The staff are helpful and pleasant. The rooms are clean, functional with little terraces. The grounds are very well maintained and attractive. The only problem was the food. A limited lunch offer included something called "chicken roll". This is another way of saying "mechanically recovered chicken with added water and gelatine".
Dinner was staggering. Prisoners in Guatemalan jails would expect better. The menu promised roast chicken or lamb stew. It was the first time I've ever been embarrassed on a cook's behalf. Her budget per head must have been tiny for the chicken available amounted to the four smallest chicken legs I've ever seen. Opting instead for the lamb stew the only bits of the sacrificed animal on the plate were fat and bone.
From the management's point of view it is a real false economy. We can't have been the first to have booked in for two nights and then decided we couldn't face a second dinner like that. If they sort out their catering it could be a very pleasant stopover.More
