“wonderful lodge with perfect chalets”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

outstanding sundowner site on the rocks - unforgettable. had the very best Oryx Steak right there from the whole Namibia trip. there are usually 2 choices in the lodges, here it is Oryx. Great dining, lounge area. We loved our chalet which had 2 levels and a nice terrace to have before dinner drinks and coffee in the morning in privacy. We opened the whole front - great view, nobody can look into your room (at least it was for ours and it seams the others as well). Great mountain elephant excursion and sightings. Nice extremely friendly staff! (bring enough warm clothes, the nights can be cold). We ordered a bucket of ice for our room in the evening and there was still a little ice in the bucket in the morning...special ice?? we were not cold in the comfy bed at all. loved the stars in the mountains, very secluded, saw quite a view people jogging. One of the 3 best in Namibia on our trip.

This place is over the top beautiful. Our greeting at the gate as we drove up was warm and enthusiastic as was our welcome by Fredrick at the lodge. It's high end, but for one night after a week of off road safari, it was well worth the cost. Our room was amazing. Dinner was wonderful. However, it kinda fell apart in the morning. Staff seemed less than attentive, and breakfast was not all in line with everything else we had experienced. It was if the boss wasn't around so nobody cared as much. Still, on our way out the young gate keeper was cheery and sincere in his wishing us a safe journey onward.

the 'rooms' are suites and beautiful and each is built to meld into the rock formations. Beautiful with breathtaking views. Fine food and good staff, all of whom are English football supporters and you will be interviewed on whom you support and you had better have the players' names to hand and scores!
Sundowners are a highlight sitting on a rock outcrop as the suns sinks slowly and then off to a fine dinner.
Trips to look for desert elephant ( one seen) are also great

Truly an architectural masterpiece that blends perfectly into the surrounding countryside. We booked a scenic view room and only our mistake was that is was for only 1 night. Rooms extremely spacious and offered spectacular views over the granite boulder filled valley. Was a fantastic view first thing in ther morning. One of the most spectacular swimming pools set amongst the granite boulders. Camp has a spacious dining area together with a further large common area to relax. Also offers a dramatic sundowner area to take in the afternoon set. Dinner was lovely. Staff extremely helpful and friendly, nothing was a porblem. Reasonalbly well stocked and varied curio shop as well. All the attractions of Tywfelfontein are nearby - Organ Pipes, Burnt Mountain and the Rock Carvings. Excellent location and a great place to break a journey between Swakopmund and Etosha. Definitely a must do

Room Tip: Do your self a favour - book for 2 nights and get a scenic view room. We had room 1 - absolutely cou...

Thank you to Namibia Travel Connections for including this camp in our itinerary. Here you will find outstanding desert scenery and fascinating geological formations - a truly compelling destination. Mowani pride themselves on the service and attention their staff provide and they have every right to be proud of their achievements. We were treated like royalty and felt very special during our stay.
The luxury tented accommodation is built inconspicuously, nestled amongst the natural surroundings, to ensure total privacy for every guest. We were in tent no 1 and the view to the west was stunning from our deck.
The main complex consists of a reception, bar/dining room and a sitting area that overlooks the 'bird bath'. There is a fire pit for after dinner drinks and star gazing, a swimming pool nestled amongst the rocks and a 'sun downer' bar for the all important end of the day ritual.
Breakfasts and dinners were excellent with plenty of fresh produce, fruits and salad.
As one guest wrote in the guest book 'the staff had to use bolt croppers to release me from the wire that I had tied myself to the tree with, as I did not want to leave'.
Pure heaven
minimum impact on the natural environment. It consists of 12 luxury tents, all with en-suite facilities, decorated beautifully in an East African style. Individual wooden decks ensure an open and superb view of the Damara landscape.

First when we arrived, we came a long way by car, we couldn’t see it. It kind of arises from within the huge stones and cliffs and you really have to know it’s there to actually spot it. It looks very plain from the outside; but as you enter you would probably not call your “tent bungalow” a “tent” at least any more.

We booked a guided tour to see the rare desert elephants and we got to see twelve of them at close range which was wonderful. The staff is very friendly and makes you feel at home, without being over the top. We still had a long way to go from the camp three nights later and didn’t have enough gas to feel 100% secure, so they brought us gas and had it delivered before we had to leave. The only minus with this place is the food, whatever you do; do not order the lamb. I actually don’t know what we were thinking… lamb in the middle of the desert…

The units are beautiful and secluded, and the views are outstanding. The staff goes over and above to make your stay enjoyable. We were there on Valentines Day and although there were not a lot of guests, there was champagne at breakfast and the entire dining room was decorated in a valentine theme at dinner. The sunsets are magnificent as are the people! Many thanks to Ultimate Safaris of Windhoek for including this lodge as part of our safari.
