“Magnificant!!”
Reviewed August 17, 2013

We stayed for 2 nights mid August 2013 and our stay was the BEST of our unforgettable vacation in Namibia. What a magical environment. The vista's are superb and the tents lovely.
We were made welcome by a lovely couple who spoke many languages and we felt very special. The 3 hour morning walk was heavenly through the most beautiful nature with Bonny, the guide who knows everything. In the afternoon there was a fantastic nature drive. The food was very fresh and delicious. All activities and drinks are included, so it's also very good value for money. WE WILL BE BACK!!

Etendeka is a very special place amidst spectacular scenery. We spent two nights here and after the initial 'shock' of it being very rustic, we loved it. Accommodation is in tents with no frills but the beds are very comfortable and there is a private 'bathroom' with flushing loo and sink with hot + cold water + a shower brilliantly devised using a bucket ! (see pictures). There is also one overhead light in the tent so you're not fumbling around in the dark. If you like camping, this place is magical but to be honest, for us (my husband is nearly 70 and likes his comforts) it was a tad too basic, but that's a reflection on us, not on Etendeka. It is a true back to nature experience and we are very glad that we included it in our itinerary We met delightful fellow guests there and thoroughly enjoyed the communal breakfasts and dinner round a big table and the food was excellent, in fact, superb considering the remoteness of the camp. It is miles from anywhere. A word of caution - if you are not in excellent health, I wouldn't recommend it. Medical assistance is at least 2 hours away. Dennis, the owner and manager is a charming gentleman, ably assisted by delighful staff including guide Bonnie who took us on a wonderful 4 hour drive/walk, educating us all along the way. We did not see many animals here but learnt so much about the flora/fauna, it made a nice change from game viewing in Etosha.
If you are fit and healthy and enjoy camping, you'll adore this place.

Etendeka was amazing. The views and scenery are spectacular. Denis is a terrific host so you really felt at home with him. The food was great, especially their chicken. We really had lots of fun there and interesting walks with Bonnie, nice to be out of a jeep for a change. Also found the bucket shower amusing, never had one of those before. Highly recommend Etendeka on your travels through Namibia.

Spent two nights here and can only agree with the Brazilian tripper comments. The scenery is stunning, the comfortable simplicity of the accommodation is fun, the welcome is warm, and Dennis makes a mean G&T! Bonni's walks are informative and relaxed, you will see and learn things that you have not seen before. You never know what you will see next, we didn't see the lions or elephants, but instead a leopard and baby giraffe that had been born a few hours before. The night sky will take your breath away. Can only recommend visiting Etendeka, and enjoy getting closer to nature in a comfortable way!

Room Tip: There is no fitness centre or pool, this is returning to mother nature with a difference. An experi...

Spent four nights with my wife, daughter and son. The location of the camp is beautiful, with the Etendeka Mountains changing colors as the light changes during the day. The camp is comfortable without luxury, and you always feel welcome. Dennis is a great host and Boni is an outstanding guide, who knows everything about the geography, geology and wildlife around the camp. Speaking about wildlife, although our drives were called "scenic drives" instead of "game drives", we ended up seeing oryx, black faced impala, giraffes, mountain zebra, desert elephants and 7 beautiful lions on a lazy afternoon guarding their kill. Great sunrises, sunsets and full moon. And listening to the lions roaring in the early hours of the morning when you are sleeping in your tent is always an unforgetable experience. [For some reason I could not skip the rating of a swimming poll, which does not exist at the camp. Since I did not want to reduce the rate I rated it excellent because its absence does not take anything away from the great experience)

Imagine kudus, zebras, springboks, oryx....grazing in gorgeous landscapes. If Eden does exists it is certainly in Etendeka. Here you will be guests of Mother Nature and so, she will teach you how to respect her. Accommodations are simple, but tents are big and beds are good, meals are great and made from what is found around here. Just remember Etendeka aims to respect environment !
Very warm hospitality from Dennis and clicking well named Boniface. Our favourite place in Namibia.

Our "tent" was wonderful, this really is glamping at it's best. Everything you need; flush toilet, bucket shower, chairs out front of the tent for enjoying the view, comfortable bed, and spotless.

Ivan was our guide for two afternoon game drives and one nature walk in the morning. He has lots of local knowledge and really seems to enjoy his job.

The communal meals were tasty, with plenty of food on offer.

The location can't be beat and this is a great place to get away from it all and enjoy the beauty that is Namibia. I would love to return to Etendeka.
