This is a wonderful place to stay ,The cottages are big and the beds have a the mosquito net and lots of trees around the cottage. So you wake up to the sounds of the birds chirping and the sea on the other side. The housekeeping staff left us little messages everyday which made the kids so happy. The staff are very accommodating , friendly and helped us with all the activities , went out of their way in helping the kids and us with kayaking, letting us watch turtle hatching, fishing. The food was great . Got our faces painted and hair braded.
The spa was clean . We had a great masseur .
It is the most beautiful island in the middle of no where with beautiful beaches and turquoise sea and during a low tide you can walk over to the other side which has people from nosey be coming over to sell local crafts.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the sea were nice and closer to the beach, there is too much walk to the other room...

I went on the Nosy Iranja island almost 12 years ago, with the World Wildlife Found (WWF). We were a group of 15 Italians coming from the island of Nosy Be, where we spent two weeks before. The island itself is amazing, the fishers village too, we enjoyed really nice adventures, we slept on the beach and two days later we went back to Nosy Be. Being part of the WWF travel's group means deciding to experience eco-tourism, which is the best way to discover remote places on the world. The Nosy Iranja Lodge is a place like many others, built for another type of tourism and with completely other interests for the island itself. People, as they wrote on their comments, get annoyed quickly, complain for animals and insects, and are frustrated for the scarcity of fishes in the sea. I swear, went I was there, one of the most incredible thing was the sea life, I haven't seen again such a quantity of fishes and corals. Considering the fact that this hotel is the result of corruption, and for this reason was closed in the past, my question is about the future of the island.
People have to travel somewhere else.
What is the reason to fly for 22 hours and stay in a luxurious hotel which has much in common with all the resort of the worlds, but with less activities?

Please consider very careful before to contribute to the destruction of another paradise; even if it is considered an eco friendly hotel (?) the question is, what is better for the preservation of the island, a green hotel or simply nothing?

Tiny tropical island in the middle of no where...Perfect for a short relaxed stay to get away from it all. Food is basic but good quality same for wine list. Ideal for snorkelling and spotting baby turtles. Quality and clean lodgings. The gym has been outdated for a long while and still is.

Location: Beautiful island, stunning small beaches, turquoise sea.
Climate: 20 to 30 degrees, not sticky, cool in the evenings. Ideal summer weather.
Lodge: beautiful, for those that want to enjoy the total luxury of sleeping in stunning bungalows, under the mosquito netting of four poster bed, hearing the waves of the Indian ocean break nearby. Amazing food.
Staff: v nice and friendly.
Nature: We watched green turtles lay their eggs, watched the baby turtles hatch, dolphins jump in the sea, rays, sharks whilst swimming amongst beautiful tropical fish. Sadlly we missed the wales. Maybe next time...

Room Tip: Ideal for couples or families with children at school. My three year old was too smal to appreciate...

We are still fantasising about returning to this wonderful place. No telephones, no TV, no noisy crowds. Lots of room on beautiful beaches, large rooms with private garden areas, great food and friendly staff too! I'd recommend asking for a room on the sunset side of the island as watching the sunset from our private veranda was a real romantic highlight. Seeing the baby tutles hatching on the southern beach and following one while snorking as it swam around the reef were others.
Don't count on using the gym though, it's barely existant and the few weights are badly rusted.

Approx 90min boat trip from Nosey Be and absolutely stunning ! Must be the premier island and hotel in Madagascar. The beaches are the typical postcard white sand with crystal clear water and the resort is the only hotel on the islands (sand bank link between two beautiful islands) Hotel island small – could walk around it in 15 min.
In my view better that the Mauritius beaches etc. Hotel has 30 lodges, we stayed in a junior suite which has two large bedrooms and good bathroom / shower area and a great patio area looking over the beach. Thatch and wood construction with fan / no aircon but generally the sea breeze helps though in December at 35 degrees its gets hot and humid. All the lodges are connected by sand passageways through the indigenous gardens and each lodge far away enough that you don’t see each other.
Main hotel area is on the point so 180 degree seaview from restaurant, bar etc. Main bathing area has umbrellas. loungers, fully serviced etc with a great "Natique" office for scuba diving, all water sports, excursions etc.
Staff unbelievably helpful and efficient and go out of their way to ensure your stay is superb – English not widely spoken by waiters etc but enough to assist you. Main language spoken is Malagasy and French.
We were on a fully inclusive package so good breakfast: cereal, fruit, croissants etc, eggs and then three course meals at lunch and dinner. Considering its an island and logistics involved food awesome and great surrounds to have dinner surrounded by beach and sea. Can get most drinks / bar relatively fully stocked though limited range of wines – some French and mostly South African with average price of approx USD30 but enough choice.
No mobile reception so no mobile phones / blackberry’s which is actually a blessing. There is internet available and a satellite phone if needed.
We had an absolutely stunning time, well looked after in the most picturesque surroundings – stayed a couple of extra nights as it was so good. Its casual – shorts and shirts / dress etc for dinner though no shoes – everyone walks around barefoot which is a great touch. Had a great New Year party – very casual and nicely low key. There was also a wedding in the following week and hotel put on great effort.
Mainly French guests with smattering of South Africans. The experience is not going to be as built up / advanced / 5 star as say Mauritius hotels but for a relaxed picture postcard island getaway its prefect, quiet, friendly and casual and in my view a much better experience. Can’t recommend enough and resort managers Theo and Zo really ensure you have a great stay.

What a revelation Nosy Iranja was. We spent 7 nights here in April and from the moment we arrived we fell in love with this serene tranquil paradise. This is truly a get away from it all destination.
Accommodation: The villas are very spacious private and beautifully decorated with all the amenities that you could wish for. They all have a magnificent view of the ocean from the large patio.
The staff are the most hospitable friendly and welcoming that we have experienced. Nothing is too much trouble. We were always treated like royalty. My husband had a birthday while we were there and the staff surprised us with a birthday cake, champagne and a party after dinner. They must have seen his birth date when we checked in. The management were wonderful with special mention of Theo, Zho and Jimmy. Although it is difficult not to mention all the wonderful staff at the resort.
The beaches: There are 3 swimming beaches. 2 on either side of south point and one right in front of the resort. And they are all incredible with crystal clear warm (29Deg when we were there) water. As the resort is close to equator the sea temperature is always warm unlike Mauritius.
Cuisine: Excellent and delicious. We had fresh seafood at lunch and dinner daily, often including prawns and crayfish.

We had a lot of fun with the sailing boats and the paddle skis. My son also tried the para sailing which he loved.

Nosy Iranja has a turtle-monitoring project that focuses on researching and conserving the hawksbill turtle. We were lucky enough to see some eggs hatch and watched as the baby turtles mde the journey down the beach to the ocean. It was one of the most incredible experiences we have ever had.

I cannot reccommend this resort enough. It is seldom that one still finds such an unspoilt destination. We wll definitely go back. We had a magical time on the island.
