“Very good food”
Reviewed March 2, 2013 via mobile

Excellent curry, great staff, good prices and the best nan bread I've had since we were in goa. Went twice and both times very good and a lot better than the curry house on the strip

“Even better than last year!”
Reviewed February 20, 2013

We first visited this restaurant in February, 2012 when it was known as VJ's. The food was very good but the dining area was small and somewhat cramped.
We returned to Gambia in February, 2013. This restaurant had since been extended and renamed.
Last year the bar was inside but it now occupies an extended area running the full length of the rear of the downstairs dining area. There is now a sizeable upstairs dining area accessed by a spiral staircase (as can be seen in my photograph of the restaurant)
We visited this restaurant a couple of times in the early evening for a drink and on 3 occasions we had our evening meal here.
My wife and I thought the food was excellent and the staff warm and friendly. Amadou in particular was an absolute star (again featured in a photograph).
At the moment this place is the TripAdvisor number 1 rated restaurant in Kotu and I think that tag is well deserved.

Excellent curry, great service, fantastic naan breads. They even have their own tandoor ovens. They also do take-aways! Superb.

“lttle gem”
Reviewed February 7, 2013

this is a great place to eat and a place to quaff a few late afternoon beers and watch the craft market wind down, the draft julibrew at £1.50 a pint is a steal as the sun goes down and then the man from katmandhu does a proper curry, better than most of those in bradford.
had several different curries on different visits and all were good fresh produce well cooked and spiced to give lovely dishes.
would reccomend.
regards grizz

“Outstanding”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

This new restaurant has helped lift the standard of places to eat in Kotu. Whereas in previous years we would occasionally go to the Senegambia strip for something a bit different, we ate here three times (and could easily have been more). It rates as highly as some of the best indian restaurants we have eaten at in the UK. The chef certainly knows what he is doing. All curries cooked to perfection. We tended to go a little later than most, so tables were availab;e and service were excellent. Highly recommend the chicken harilayi and tarka dahl.. although other dishes also excellent. My only hestiataion for not giving it full marks for atmosphere and romance is the problem that tables are a bit too close together and we seemed to be permanently surrounded by smokers who cared not where their smoke drifted (a problem right across The Gambia) although when we had to eat indoors due to rain (!) , people were asked to leave the room. Also, check the bill carefully... they were lucky so many customers were honest as items were often missed off!!
