Really nice stretch of beach - best in the area. Beach bars dotted along it for a cold one or simply a paddle at the waters edge.

“Back again!!”
Reviewed January 7, 2014

The beach is all sand and the water is warm(well much warmer than home) and shelves gently.Sometimes its a bit too rough to swim and even when ok the waves can be quite high. Its rarely flat,if ever. There are sun-beds which are usually free if you are buying refreshments or food. We always use Paradise bars beds and eat ther lunchtimes and evenings because we have made friends of the staff and the food is good and cheap (try barracuda or lady-fish or our usual Gambian prawns). The sellers on the beach can be relentless but we mainly just get visited by our friends now the others know we are not buying. Its worth buying your towels from the guy who walks along selling them and the sand pictures are great to take home.I always buy my basket work from Muhammed(From Senegal).Denba is lovely a real friend and many others we look forward to chatting to.Say Hi to Cafe who is an artist and by now may be hiring out motorbikes if you ask-the only one in the area i think. The market just behind Paradise is interesting, leave enough time to be called int EVERY unit as this is expected!

Great sandy beach outside the hotel, lots of security guards but you were still continually hassled by the beach sellers.

“Kotu beach convert”
Reviewed January 2, 2014

We went to Kotu beach for the first time this December and absolutely loved it.
Having been to Kenya the bumsters on the beach were not in the least offensive as they were there. We found a polite 'no thank you' worked but did buy fruit from the ladies which we had for lunch most days. We also tried to buy whatever we could in the local craft markets because the money was staying in the local area. The beach was lovely with soft white sand that stretched for miles. We rode the local horses which were both well fed and cared for which was important for us.
We loved watching the fishermen in the mornings and the overall pace of life on the beach. We are totally switched on to Kotu and having done a little more research when we were there would definately stay there again.
