We liked everything about this place! Food of course and the wonderful staff. The incredibly fresh and tasty vegetables added a special dimension, but all the dishes was inventive tasty. The deserts should be illegal...

“Surely just waiting its chance visit by the Michelin team before it collects a star”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

Jonathan is the chef and we saw him there every day, arriving with the fresh produce he'd selected from his suppliers and the many markets and creating dishes of the day depending upon what he'd found. He has found some excellent local staff to support him both in the kitchen and on the waiting side. Breakfast comprises a good selection of cold foods and a junior chef ready to create a pancake or breakfast special, lunch always features a fish of the day but the evenings are made special by local singers and bands performing. A different amuse bouche each day started the meal, follwed by superb quality, beautifully cooked starters , mains and sweet courses to die for! A good selection of wines - but if you are not sure stick with the excellent house wines or a local Julbrew

“Revealing doors may put you off your food!”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

Small choice on menu and little for vegetarians but food at dinner excellent. The reason for the title? On arrival from the main street, rather than when staying at the hotel, you are met with two large metal doors - each has been cut though to make a larger than life sized outline of a man and a woman - with obvious genitalia which is further highlighter (literally) by lights shining through this area. The male of these is somewhat excited (to put it subtly) and we both thought it looks like the doorway to a dodgy sex shop in a red light area rather than a good restuarant with views of the ocean. It seems the Dutch owner thinks his love of 'artwork' is appreciated. Not by me it isnt.

“Reputation Deserved”
Reviewed February 7, 2013

Far and away the best meal I had while I was in The Gambia was at this restaurant which deserves all the high praise it has received over the years. It occupies a very pretty location on a bluff overlooking the sea, the surrounding gardens are very attractive, the cooking was excellent, the ingredients good and fresh, the service excellent. It was well worth the extra expense of getting there. On another trip to The Gambia I would like to stay there, mainly because of the restaurant and its surroundings.

“Great experience”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

By far the best dinner we had in our stay in the Gambia, also the most expensive. For us, the perfect place for a proper dinner out to conclude our holidays.
Excellent service, good wine menu, creative dishes up to European restaurant standards but with local ingredients and a local taste to it.
Check beforehand whether they have live music: we were lucky with a great band with guitar, kora, and smooth vocals, excellent improvisation, and a great deal of talent. They knew their place however: it remained excellent background music and did not become a concert. Very nice service at the bar as well, with good cocktails. Again, however, be prepared to pay for it: about twice as expensive as the average on Senegambia (but of course still cheap compared to European standards).
Location: when coming from Senegambia, go through Fajara on the Ocean Road, after about two "sleeping policemen" (speed bumps) it's on your left hand side. We had a green taxi from Senegambia/Kololi for 200 dalasi round trip.
