By far the best dinner we had in our stay in the Gambia, also the most expensive. For us, the perfect place for a proper dinner out to conclude our holidays.
Excellent service, good wine menu, creative dishes up to European restaurant standards but with local ingredients and a local taste to it.
Check beforehand whether they have live music: we were lucky with a great band with guitar, kora, and smooth vocals, excellent improvisation, and a great deal of talent. They knew their place however: it remained excellent background music and did not become a concert. Very nice service at the bar as well, with good cocktails. Again, however, be prepared to pay for it: about twice as expensive as the average on Senegambia (but of course still cheap compared to European standards).
Location: when coming from Senegambia, go through Fajara on the Ocean Road, after about two "sleeping policemen" (speed bumps) it's on your left hand side. We had a green taxi from Senegambia/Kololi for 200 dalasi round trip.

Wonderful ambience, service and food. Best in the area. First class dining experience which should not be missed if you are staying in the area. Great staff serving great food. Great local fish dishes - English chef with a high reputation.

First class fresh food - a la carte menu is available, but there is also a "specials" board - different at lunchtimes and in the evening. Lots of different local fresh fish on the menu/specials board. Meat seems to be imported (eg lovely steak from Brazil). Friendly and efficient staff.

We were on a half board package at the lodge and did not regret the choice, Johnathan the chef produced wonderful food and would do his best to accommodate any particular requests from the guests. The restaurant was open to the public and has a reputation as the best in the Gambia, we were in one night when the American Ambassador and guests were in. However the retaurant retains a relaxed atmosphere. The prices reflect this and are English price comparable.
