One of my favourite hotels in the Gambia. The hotel is located right on a sandy beach; some maintance required on the beach to keep the sand free from debris. The beach staff do their best to keep area free from debris but more resources required to keep this lovely stretch of beach pristine.
This is my 2nd time at Ocean Bay and I will definitely return, I found all staff both friendly and professional and the food very tasty. As indicated by previous post there are a combination of registered tourist guides and taxi services located opposite the hotel. If you do not require their services you need to be firm but polite with you rebuttal. Cape Point where this hotel is located, is quieter than Kolloli but only a short taxi ride away from Senegambia area where a vast array of resturants and clubs can be found. In my opinion this is one of the best hotels in Gambia, our room was kept immaculate by Hurano Camara, he was extremely efficient ensuring all reported and non reported repairs were completed expediently as well as ensuring a dust and mosquito free environment. I hope Ocean Bay management take notice of the excellent work being undertaken. You can also soak up the local culture by occasionally purchasing freshly made fruit juices and delicious fruit platters from registered juice and fruit sellers on the beach. You can be assured that there is an appropriate level of security on the beach to reduce instances of anything that can be perceived as hassle by us tourists.
The hotel provides 24 hour reception service and you are also able to get a meal outside of normal opening hours.
I would like to say thank you to all the staff at Ocean Bay Hotel, and some of the local guides for making my stay in the Gambia a memorable occasion.
