Second visit to this hotel and always been good.
Not a five star hotel by rest of the world standards but the best in Gambia .

Staff, food etc all very good

Don't be afraid to leave the hotel and explore, yes you will get a bit of hassle from street sellers but a strong NO is all you need.

Try the other restaurants in the area, all very good, along with the juice sellers on the beach.

    Good wifi

Definitely recommend giving this hotel and country a try... you may just be surprised!!!

They have a nice beach and pool area. If you are working for the UN, it is right across the street from UN House so that is very convenient. There are lots of pricey and unusual African wood carvings for sale in the lobby/reception area. They are friendly too. Also they don't charge you 3% + hefty bank charges if you pay with a credit card. They only take master card and visa. We were working non-stop so I didn't get to use the pool, beach and spa. Book online since it is cheaper like $86 online but $122 if you book in person even with a UN discount.

This was our fourth time (11-21 April 2017) at the Ocean Bay and the third year in succession. We had a suite again and we had a partial view of the sea via the Beach Bar. Very nice indeed. The extra space in a suite is useful even if the idea is to spend as much time outside in the sun as possible.

We had a warm welcome back on arrival, and it was a nice touch for the hotel to remember us well enough to put our friends next door to us when they arrived the following day with a different tour operator and from a different airport. We hadn't remembered to ask and it was much appreciated.

Not a lot has changed really. The staff are still very friendly and they all do their best to be helpful. The beach bar is good for lunch and for early evening drinks and the UK and other European football is usually on here and in the reception bar.

It was very quiet during all of our stay. There were a couple of conference groups from the EU/ UN elections monitors and a small UN conference which added to the small number of hotel guests at the end of another challenging season.

The pool sun beds have all been replaced and the there are plenty of them and sun parasols too. The renovation work continues on the rooms - our suite had a comfortable double bed and good air conditioning. Everything worked well, although the bathroom will benefit from freshening up when it's turn comes.

We enjoyed our holiday very much and we will be back at the Ocean Bay again next year.

Room tip: The rooms are in low level "houses" and none are far from either the pool or the beach.

One of my favourite hotels in the Gambia. The hotel is located right on a sandy beach; some maintance required on the beach to keep the sand free from debris. The beach staff do their best to keep area free from debris but more resources required to keep this lovely stretch of beach pristine.
This is my 2nd time at Ocean Bay and I will definitely return, I found all staff both friendly and professional and the food very tasty. As indicated by previous post there are a combination of registered tourist guides and taxi services located opposite the hotel. If you do not require their services you need to be firm but polite with you rebuttal. Cape Point where this hotel is located, is quieter than Kolloli but only a short taxi ride away from Senegambia area where a vast array of resturants and clubs can be found. In my opinion this is one of the best hotels in Gambia, our room was kept immaculate by Hurano Camara, he was extremely efficient ensuring all reported and non reported repairs were completed expediently as well as ensuring a dust and mosquito free environment. I hope Ocean Bay management take notice of the excellent work being undertaken. You can also soak up the local culture by occasionally purchasing freshly made fruit juices and delicious fruit platters from registered juice and fruit sellers on the beach. You can be assured that there is an appropriate level of security on the beach to reduce instances of anything that can be perceived as hassle by us tourists.
The hotel provides 24 hour reception service and you are also able to get a meal outside of normal opening hours.
I would like to say thank you to all the staff at Ocean Bay Hotel, and some of the local guides for making my stay in the Gambia a memorable occasion.

Thank you for being loyal to the Ocean Bay Hotel.
As rightly mentioned, the hotel beach staffs are doing their utmost best to keep the beach clean and tidy, also kindly note that it is not a private one. Nevertheless we will continue the trend with more resources to keep up the momentum.
We have also noted the recommended staff during your stay and please do not hesitate to contact us prior to your next holiday for special requests and updates.

You can eat in this hotel when you are not a guest, an buy acces to the pool for 4 EUR
per person. Very nice garden en swimming pool, and friendly service.
The breakfast we took one day was OK, but certainly not 5 star quality.
The have however a nespresso machine, so the one place in Bakau/Cape Point to enjoy a real expresso is this hotel.
